That's cool.
Both countries "won", Canada with the most gold medals ever, USA with the most medals ever. So congrats.
Personally I find it much fairer to count all medals and I wished it would be done everywhere (e.g. also in my country), but anyway.
Either way you count the medals, my country is on 2nd place (10 gold medals = 4 less than CAN but 1 more than USA, 30 medals in total = 7 less than USA but 4 more than Canada).
Pretty impressive, as usual at winter (or summer) olympics and as usual thanks to the girls who won 18 of the 30 medals and 8 of the 10 gold medals. Germany is a ladies' sports nation at the olympics.
I know that some people find this medal count disgusting and I understand them, but that's how success is measured at the olympics. If your team disappoints and doesn't bring home the expected amount of medals, public and media will force the government to reconsider the national sport promotion. Russia and especially Finland are most probably not very happy with their results at Vancouver.
Great olympics, by the way, despite the luge tragedy - R.I.P. Nodar Kumaritashvili.
I knew Canada would be a fantastic host again. If it were up to me you could give all winter olympics to either a Scandinavian country or Canada (out of all winter olympics I've followed, Lillehammer is still my favorite, Calgary was great as well).
does any1 care ?? the winter olympics is a joke there is only 5-10 countries with any chance of winning anything(north american countries and countries around the alps)
One more thing:
It can't get any cooler than k.d. lang singing a Leonard Cohen song at the opening ceremonies and Neil Young performing at the closing ceremonies. These choices showed class and were near perfect.
100% perfection would have been if grumpy Neil wouldn't have performed an own old song he wrote for his first car, but if he would have performed a song by one of Canada's best songwriters ever and one of his early days companions instead: Joni Mitchell. "A Case of You" or "Both Sides, Now" for example would have been fantastic choices imo.

Just NA and countries around the alps??
Hm, let's see: You forgot Scandinavia. Or Russia. Or Korea. Or Japan. Or the Netherlands. Or China. Or Australia, which won more medals than UK, if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah. We are not. =D Media is already searching reasons for this and blaming several persons. Biggest reason is lack of money.
Yeah, we got whooped just about every time we played Canada.
Congratulations to all of their coaches and atheletes. I expect continued success
from them in the future.

Danm Sidney Crosby, why do you have to be so good. I salute the American Mens and Womens hockey teams, heres to hoping they increase the popularity of Hockey in the US. NASCAR is so boring.
