Forums - General - Wal-mart Secret Sale: 80gb ps3 with 15 free Blu-Ray movies...

Remember the Wal-Mart secret sale a couple of weeks ago with $99 HD DVD players?

Well, for the secret sale next week (the weekend following Black Friday) they're giving away 10 free Blu-Ray movies instantly with every 80gb ps3 purchased, not including the 5 free by mail. That's 15 movies for free!

See more here and here:

On 11/24 at 8:00am (running through 11:59pm on 11/25), the 80GB PS3 ($499) will come with 10 FREE Blu-ray movies instantly. You choose any 10 BD titles under $30 within the store and they will override the prices to zero. For those stores that carry BD already, additional titles are being sent in for the sale. For those that do not have BD in their store (a small minority) product will be sent to each store specifically for this sale.

Also, there's been anecdotal evidence from a few posters on the High Def Digest forums that the Samsung BD-P1400 is selling for only $299 with 8 free movies at the Wal-marts where it's in stock. They don't have it on their online store, so I can not confirm this.

If it's true, then there goes HD DVD's price advantage. You can get the Samsung Blu-Ray player with 8 free movies for $299, or the Toshiba A2 for $228 with 5 free movis.

Blu-Rays range from $20-$35, but only $30 movies are allowed for the deal, so that would be about $250 worth of movies on average. Probably more since there are more movies over $25 than under.

Good luck finding 15 Bluray releases that you'd actually want to watch more than once.

Thats an incredible deal, if I wanted PS3 or a BR player this would be the perfect time.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

christ thats a great deal. we already have an HD-DVD player though...

talk about getting raped though, trying to get into wal-mart to actually buy that on black friday. none of those big stores ever get enough security so people end up getting punched in the eye and trampled, LOL

Based on the size of the HD movie sections in my local wal-marts, it would take about 3 PS3 sales to wipe out the entire section. What happens after that?

They're sending extra BD stock to the Wal-marts for the sale.

From the OP:
