MS could do whatever they want and people would still be hating on them.

If it works out, why not? They did this with the Xbox 1 with Robbie Williams, Nintendo did this and I am pretty sure, Sony did this as well. So this is just fundamental marketing. The only shocking there here would be if they asked Tiger Woods to do some Natal Golf :)
