Forums - Gaming - Final Fantasy XIII Linearity - Be reasonable people.

Wow... lots of people got soap boxes out for both sides of this discussion.

1. People are allowed their opinions. Some people find that the FF series has become too linear and I can respect that.

2. If you don't like a game, don't buy it. There is no need to keep going out of your way into threads about a game you don't want to play and don't care about.

i think the new gameplay sydtem would have complemented more better if the game wasn't so linear. I mean other Final Fantasy games (like FFX and the older FF games) were linear but FFXIII was so linear. Even the maps felt linear (it was like one long corridor). Anyway you guys can judge it by yourself when the game is released.

I like RPG's that lead you through an amazing story. I'm sure FFXIII will be epic.

FFX had towns? I don't know about that. Id call them areas more or less, similar to what FFXIII has. Only there are no shops.

This game shouldnt be called a Final Fantasy game. Hell... Even the director said the game is not an RPG.

I think the creators of the series have earned the right to call their games whatever the hell they choose. or change them the way they see fit.

Ok, good for you.

Final Fantasy XIII will be the definitive JRPG of this generation until....

Odd. Future. Wolf. Gang. Kill. Em. All. OFWGKTA Don't give a fuck!

Fuck Steve Harvey. FREE EARL!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be the GREATEST game EVER made!!!

I'd take a bullet for Square-Enix!

according to current reviews, the first half is very linear, but later locations are huge.

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

This is actually one of the things that has bugged me most about later FF games. They have NO sense of timing any more. If you subject your audience to 5 or more hours of lackluster gameplay, you're going to lose a bunch of them. I don't care how great the later part of the game ends up becoming... I have neither the time nor the patience to wait for the developer to get around to making the game interesting.

It's an RPG so there has to be some amount of set-up time but if XIII is anything like XII, it gives me one more reason to wait until the game is $20 at Gamestop to pick it up (if I pick it up at all).

Has anyone ever played Final Fantasy XI? Well there are zones in that game. The size of pulse is greater than some of those zones in XI. and that is f'n HUGE.

Maybe the reason why people are disappointed with final fantasy XIII is because they wanted something familiar like a traditional worldmap, exploration, towns, etc than something thats stripped down for the sake of "change".
