I've never played the game so I don't know if what he is saying is true or not, and just to be upfront I've got GT5 preordered and will probably never play Forza 3. But this really reeks of someone who wanted to write an article about what went wrong with Forza, and then searched for things to complain about. Rather than doing what the reviewers did, which was playing the game to see what it is, he played the game to pick it apart.
Wow a great article, well done.Nice and informative.Turn10 turned me off this game talking smack so much.My advice to you would be,if you are an avid car and racing fan wait for GT5. That game has taken like 5 years to be finished and it will sell at least 4 million copies so alot more people will be online.
fighter said: I love how the guy criticizes reviewers for having given top marks to Forza 3 but doesn't constest the fact it is the best simulator on consoles, ever.
Basically he's saying the best simulator on consoles doesn't deserve to have the best reviews... What an idiot...
that is perhaps the big (free ?) claim this guy is trying to put on perspective here ...
for him, it seems it is not the case compared to others games which sadly remain unknow.
He doesn't say that at all. He avoids comparing F3 to other racing simulators while still stating F3 is overrated.
The same could be done with Gran Theft Auto IV, Halo 3, Gears of War 2, Street Fighter IV, etc. Any game can be labeled "overrated" because every game is in a transition state of the genre. Nonetheless, reviewers do not compare games to their perfected ideal as mush as relatively to actual competition.
You know, posting history can tell a lot about a person. The OP is an admitted huge fan of Gran Turismo and Playstation game series.
I have to agree completely with the article from the perspective of a hardcore racing fan. Also the comments about the community aspects are quite troubling. It would be good for Turn 10 to front up and say "We designed it this way, and we are sorry you don't like it" or "We're working to fix it, heres a free (large) DLC pack coming up to make ammends to you". I think what this article really proves is that a racing game cannot be made in two years. You can make an arcade game in two years but a simulator would take a lot longer.
From the perspective of someone who isn't quite so into hardcore racing its hard to say how this would effect them. Do people want realism or surrealism?
I guess this is the value of GT5. Its not because the game is hardcore, its just that they can thread the line between hardcore and casual and not make anyone upset whilst delivering a good experience for both.

Look at the games Forza 3 is played more than and tell me with a serious face that it doesn't have a strong online community. Most people don't even play racers online so to use one specific time and one specific day to try to claim that a game is dying is completely laughable.
The article was clearly written with someone whose either ignorant or has an agenda. Inside Sim racing is probably the harshest yet fairest and most in depth sim racing reviewers. They are far more qualified to review racers than pretty much any other review site out there. For the person who said GT5P is better than Forza 3, well sorry but its not even better than Forza 2.
Since someone else posted their Forza 3 review I won't bother reposting it. What I find most entertaining about this thread is that the majority of people that agree with the article haven't even played Forza 3. I'm guessing waiting 5 plus years for a single game has created a lot of insecurities.
