Forums - Sony Discussion - Sega has betrayed me (Yakuza style) *cries*

Dumbass Sega. So you took it out because you wanted it to release it on one of the most packed months?

Also it wouldn't resonate with the western audiences? Most of the people who are looking forward to Y3 already played Y1 & Y2, and both of them had the hostess clubs. Also, I'm pretty sure Yakuza fans are fascinated with the Japanese culture presented in Yakuza - well at least I am. I can understand taking out the quiz.

The hostess clubs were one of the best and funniest things in Yakuza. I spent a lot of time there, and I'm guessing the side missions tied with the hostess are cut. This also makes a lot of things useless now like shopping for bags and getting teddy bears.

I can already see Sega telling us "I told you so" when it sells poor, even though it's their fault for releasing it on one of the worst months possible and pissing off a lot of their fans.

Fuck you Sega!

Couldnt have said it better myself.  If anything, Sega is already 2 games late with taking out that feature so why bother now?  I sure hope that they plan to keep it all on the disc and maybe release a DLC to unlock it if they change their minds.

All those interesting articles i've read back then about the efforts Sega puts into the detail and women for the hostess clubs for what now?? gah.

Way to make an awesome game get crappier to go with its crappy boxart too.

"The content between Yakuza 3 US/UK and Yakuza JP is a little different in that we took out certain bits in order to bring the game to the west in the time alloted for us to do so. The parts we ended up taking out were parts that we felt wouldn't make sense (like a Japanese history quiz game) or wouldn't resonate as much (such as the concept of a hostess club)," the rep told IGN. "We didn't replace the parts we took out, but we made absolutely sure that the story continuity stayed intact so that the story experience was the same as the Japanese version and that it didn't take away the human drama so inherent to the Yakuza series."

LOL I remeber that Hostess club from the Japanese Demo. I wonder why they took that out, but the silly karaoke thing stayed in... I was wondering where was the club in the USA demo, now I know :P

I guess its a valid argument to be angry...but I can't relate as I don't care about Yakuza series.

Luckily for the western gamer, Sega has been pretty kind this year. Bayonetta, AVP and Sonic all star racing all are games ive bought and will have a good time with...

So I was going to pre-order this game and empty my wallet even more, but many of you seem to not like this hostess thing being gone. I didnt play the first two and im not familiar with what exactly a hostess club is, so what exactly will I be missing out on??

I have lived as a warrior. I have died as a god. Having suffered the ultimate sacrifice, I have been denied release. I...I will defeat Olympus. I will have my revenge

@Pb- that girl is fucking scary! wth anime eyes!?

OT: ... Whats a hostess club?

Hostess clubs are a common feature in the night-time entertainment industry of Japan as well as other east Asian countries and areas outside Asia with a high east Asian population. They are establishments that employ primarily female staff and cater to males seeking drink and attentive conversation. The more recent host clubs are similar establishments where primarily male staff cater to females. Host and hostess bars are considered part of mizu shōbai or "water trade" in Japan.

Why does anyone care? It's just pixelated soft porn?

It's not just about getting punani. There are side missions tied to the hostesses, and I'm guessing they'll be cut as well so we're losing more than just a mini-game. Also at one point, you can run the hostess bar and change the layout and whatnot. Y3 lets you choose the hostesses' outfit. The hostesses also give you special weapons, items, and exp.

Also shops designed for hostesses are going to be useless now. It's going to make managing your money a whole lot easier and make the game easier as well.

I spend a lot of time in the hostess clubs in Yakuza 2 since it was surprisingly fun. I am upset they cut this out, but I'm still getting the game in hopes that they bring Yakuza 4 stateside. Lots of people in numerous forums are already cancelling their pre-orders, so someone has to support the game. I don't see why they cut it out (other than maybe budget issues) because the last two games had them, and their excuses suck. Sega fails on understanding their fanbase.

Not necessarily.

It seems that not everything with the hostesses is cut out.

Even though the hostess clubs are out, you can still go on dates with the girls. Better news? The strip clubs are still in Yakuza 3, so plan on dropping some Yen there.

Yeah at least the karaoke is still there. It's pretty funny: Oy! Oy! Oy! Still a little mad they removed it and gave us BS excuses. Here's hoping they release it as DLC for free.

@pbroy, their eyes are creepy except for the purple one.

I don't see the point. The ~100k people that'll buy this are all Japan-ophiles who would be all over this type of stuff.

Sticking with the Japanese voice acting alone is enough to turn off most western buyers, let alone keeping in stuff like the hostess club.
