Forums - Sony Discussion - Does MGS4 PS3 overheat?

I am just wondering becuase my mom was just watching a movie on it and i went to the PS3 and felt the back of it. It was hot but not as hot as my xbox 360. Is this normal? also is it reported that the MGS4 PS3s have any problems like YLOD, blu ray drive errors, or overheating?

It gets hot, but I don't think it over hearts. I have one.

^^ Same as Wagram.

Also tip from Rafichamp and Xxain, leave the ps3 horizontally, not vertically because it blocks 1 mini ventilation area. Also keep it off carpet and leave it in an open area, not hot ones.

No it does not.

It shouldn't overheat, mine has never overheated. You should have no worries, its a very reliable console.

Odd. Future. Wolf. Gang. Kill. Em. All. OFWGKTA Don't give a fuck!

Fuck Steve Harvey. FREE EARL!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be the GREATEST game EVER made!!!

I'd take a bullet for Square-Enix!

Same here! Looking good so far!

I have had better luck leaving it horizontally. Once and awhile your big fan will kick on but that should just give you a hint that your PS3 needs to be moved. I put it on a glass table and my PS3 fan never turned on other than the really low one.

I also have a MGS4 ps3, never have any problem with it, i do hear a lot that the original 20-60GB ps3s are dying all over the place.

No overheat detected. Everything is normal.

The only console so far that hasn't overheated for me is my ps3 which i wasn't expecting seeing how much power this think has. MGS4 is a great game and i spent hours playing it with no problems not even freezes. Great game. I been keeping my PS3 on the top of my entertainment stand and it never gets hot but the air coming out of it can get warm.

Xbox RROD on gears of war...
Wii Back fan stopped working they were going to charge me $90 to replace the fan and went to ebay bought a Wii fan for $5 and shipped it for another $5... now its working perfectly again no random turning off from overheating.
