I bought this PS3 2 years ago. It was the MGS4 one so it has Backwards compatibility and SD card slots. I boguht it at bestbuy and the total was about $550. What I can do is trade it in at bestbuy and get the ps3 slim for $300 and an extra $250. I don't know if that $250 is worth it though. I really like how the PS3 fat looks even if it attracts dust. And the PS# slim IMO looks a little cheap. Also I never had a PS2 so the backwards compatibility might come in handy. Also my PS3 fat has been very reliable so far. I am not sure though. Dis the MGS4 PS3s ever had a YLOD problem? If so should i trade mine in? What do you guys think should i trade in my fat PS3 for the PS3 slim?

No, get a new HDD for it and be happy. I miss my fat :( Slim is so noisy.

^ Uhhh I had a 40 GB and I have a slim now, and the slim is much quieter.

You must have a noisy slim...if every single website that went hands on with a slim said it was the most quiet PS3 yet, then something might be wrong with your machine.



That said, Spartan Omega, if your PS3 has backwards compatibility, and is a limited edition PS3, why on earth do you want to trade it in for essentially the same machine?

There's no point. The PS3 slim IS quieter yes, but barely. And I mean barely. Unless you want a new PS3 because you need it for something, such as an additional blu ray player in your house, there is no point what so ever. I sold my fat for other reasons than cosmetic.

The slim does take in less power yeah, and is more effiecient sure, but is it worth trading your old PS3 in? I don't know....

You're buying the same thing twice. Its not even that much more space conserving than the phat was.

Unless you need a new PS3 for reasons other that cosmetic, there's no point.

just keep the one you got..you already said that you like the phat design and BC...and if you think tradin in for a slim will make YLOD dissapear your wrong

Keep it. and then buy a new Slim when you can. this way you have 2 PS3s in the house.

The Slim is good but you can barley stand it up and the disc drive is loud, Other than that its fine. Worth trading old fat PS3 in for? No.

i also think that the fat its way more cool than the slim... if i was you i would be opening it to clean and switch the thermal paste... do that every 2 years at best... it would be great if we could control the fan. i rather prefer a little bit louder than broken
