Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Ubisoft offering gaming like EyeToy (or Project Natal?) on Wii

Raquet Sports actually looks pretty decent. If I didn't already have Grand Slam, I might consider getting it.

I don't think camera alone is "the future." Even a sophisticated array of sensors like Natal can't replace a thumbstick for moving an avatar through a 2D plane. These camera controllers are limited unless they're either supplemented with a controller (as in Arc/Gem/WhateverthefuckSonyisn'tcallingtheirdevicetoday) or unless we add more sensors we haven't thought of yet.

There are a few game types that could play really well with camera controls, but I don't think that the gameplay excellence is diverse enough to support a whole game console with camera alone.

It's out already, and judging by the fact that none of you knew that, it's not going to be a breakaway success on the level of Motion Plus.

I knew that was already out.

But then again, it is a fitness game -- and it is nearing half a million in sales with a $70 USD standard price point in a crowded subfield of gaming  (Wii Fit/Fit+; EA Sports Active, etc.).  My understanding is that the camera is used for analysis and exercise.

The Racket Sports $40 USD with camera (and $30 USD without) and comes out next month.  My understanding here is the camera is used in lieu of a regular controller -- which is the point of the thread.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

The game itself with WM+ might be good. With the camera it will have laughable controls.

Even in Natal's high tech doing this game would be risky due to the device little lag issues, let alone that Ubisoft camera that might be just a regular vga cam like the ones in your 0.6 megapixel phone...
