Forums - Gaming - Does an FFVII remake really have to look as detailed as XIII?

You've probably heard the story. If not, go here.

My solution is to not make it that detailed. I mean, the FMVs for FFVIII and FFIX don't look as detailed as FFXIII, but simply making reamkes of them look like the FMVs would be pretty damn impressive. Perhaps that's all a remake of FFVII needs, to look as good or a little better than the FMVs (okay, more than a little, since the FMVs in those games aren't as advanced as those in VIII and IX).

And no, this isn't me going, then they could put is on the Wii... this is me going then they can put it on all the home consoles, and at far less of a cost than  full HD remake. Not sure the Wii version would look as good as the FMVs, but Monster Hunter 3 shows how far it can go (not using Crystal Bearers, since that game used streaming, and thus not compareable in this case).

This is not a jab against the HD systems. It's a jab against putting loads of time in a game that will basically be a prettier version of the game anyway. Even a 6th gen leap would have looked great, so we don't need that many graphics. Besides, have a legit way to revive Aerith and you have way more interest than the graphics would make.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
