Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Remedy explains decision to release Alan Wake on Xbox 360 only

^^
I totally agree that we can't pretend multiplatforms from small studios, I just hope for Remedy that if they had the PC version almost ready, MS lets them complete and release it after a period of XB360 exclusivity, if they so wish.

Its weird how that was all explained, b/c at first it seems as though they were blowing off the pc gamers...but the staff explanation sounded reasonable...

Actually I think MS decided to cut development cost and time. Their performance wasnt really impressing with a business point of view. Thats the impression I get when looking at the big picture. It would also explain why a MS exec couldnt find a better reason then size of the TV.

He actually gave very good reason. His company doesn't have the resources to develop a multiplat without degrading the quality of the actual game.

I think they made the right decision.

Microsofts making this game 360 only has put them in serious financial trouble. The game(alan wake) was pretty much done 4 years ago. They have not been able to release it due to microsoft owning the IP and forcing them to scrap the game down, remove everything that made it awesome, and make it a linear hallway shooter with some horror elements. I'd say dead space will turn out the better game.

Bullshit. The game was like so not done 4 years ago. If it was done 4 years ago then it would have been a launch title on the Xbox 360 with the you know, lower expectations that brings.

MS want to focus exlusively on the xbox 360 and move away from the pc. Really, if they wanted to support the pc platform then they would have released halo 3, fable 2, and gears of war 2 on the pc already but they haven't.

Same goes here. MS won't let this game go to PC. They want to establish a staple of console exclusives, and that's fair enough imo. If anything it makes it more enticing to buy a 360.
