about free and premium ps3 accounts. people seem to be getting this twisted. thinking there is no free account or the free account is stripped from online play and current features. ill post a link to sony confirming my post shortly when i can find it.

you have people saying "oh the ps3 wont ever compete with xbl if they charge. in xbl you get cross-game chat for free in silver account", which i dont get because silver members cant play games online? so how can they use cross game chat *cough* Fen**** *cough* (blurred his name cause idk if i can post user names like that)? you must mean voice chat.

look at what sony offers for a free user account (i wrote above). sorry for the caps but people are so misinformed. im not trying to flamebait or cause chaos but i want to inform as many as i can about the free and premium accounts.

Note: so far from googling silver members cannot use cross game chat but voice chat. if im wrong say so but have actual evidence to back it up. thanks

The premium accounts can do whatever new comes out when it's released, most likely cross game chat, free subscriptions to Qore etc. maybe discounts or free PS Store downloads (Only on certain things), y'know, things like that...

i hope they have a yearly membership, i will keep my free membership if its monthly.....

You cannot use Party Chat (Cross Game Chat) On the Xbox 360 or play Online unless you have a Gold Account. If that was what you were asking.

My apologies,  it must have changed in the past year or I am very much mistaken, but I disinctly remember a friend speaking to us via Cross Game voice chat while using a silver account.  and no, he's not a hacker or anything.  So, I won't dispute what you said, I have no evidence outside of my memory and seeing as how this was roughly a year ago, it may not be accurate as I believe.   Sorry. 

Actually, I went and looked it up.  I must have gotten it confused with Private chat on that one occasion, which is avaliable to silver account members. 

Yeah, or I'd assume so, you know, exclusive deals just for subscribers, which I find completely reasonable.

If I can keep on doing for free what I currently do on PSN for free after the premium accounts are introduced then premium subscriptions neither affect me or interest me.

However, being the tightwad that I am if the PSN premium subscription is (say) NZ$100 per year and I can get NZ$101 of free stuff that I want/like from PSN each year then I might just sign up for it. I doubt they'll offer enough really compelling stuff to make it worth my while though.
