Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony to unveil Arc at GDC

So a nunchuck too? Isn't this just a complete copycat of the wii?

No, it's a complete copycat of the nunchuck. The Wii is a white box you insert a disc into and it runs the software on the disc. Sony already has one of those, only its default colour is black.

The point is, if a nunchuck (why do I always think of people picking up pious christian women and throwing them around?) device is the most practical solution for having an analog stick then Sony shouldn't go for a less practical solution merely because it wouldn't be copycating. Though I think their device should have a different design and be called a knuckle duster.

Evem if the Arc have a nunchuck, I'm still not convinced... The only thing that'll convince me will the games... NEW games not existing ones getting patches whatever. And so far nothing announced has convinced me.

meh natal copies the playstation eye
and arc copies the wii
all is fair in the name of business.

Has anyone stopped to consider just how a wireless nunchuck attachment would work? The PS3 as I recall can connect with up to 7 bluetooth enabled assessories. If we have a motion controller and wireless nunchuck each take up one of those slots than we can only have a maximum combination of 3 remote/nunchuck players playing any game at once with one slot left over for an additional DualShock 3/Motion Controller/Wireless Headset.

It would probably be much more cost effective for Sony to simply attach the two with a cable the way that Nintendo does and the lower price could drive more sales of the assessory as well.

Well it could be done where the "nunchuck" part is connecting to the wand and not the PS3.  Thus needing no firmware updates at all, or worrying about controller slots availability.
