Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo DOES re-up Eternal Darkness trademark once more

I know this may just lead to further tease-related pains, but hey, it's better than them not re-upping the trademark isn't it? Maybe. From GoNintendo.

Nintendo, please stop teasing us with Eternal Darkness. I can't take anymore of this trademark nonsense.

Last we heard, Nintendo had let the trademark for Eternal Darkness lapse, and all hope for any sequel or 'New Play Control' version was lost. Now we have some good news to ponder. Nintendo re-upped the trademark on February 10th, 2010, which was just a few days ago. Now we have to ask the question that we asked a long time ago. Is Nintendo teaming with Silicon Knights to finally work on a sequel or revamp, or are they just protecting their classics?

Silicon Knights' success with Eternal Darkness had a lot to do with working with Nintendo, I think, same as Rare.

God, I hope they team up again for a sequel. The game screamed for one. Screamed.

And SK needs the money!

I'd honestly rather see Nintendo tap another studio for the sequel. Maybe Climax.

ooooooo

Great news! At least it makes us Eternal Darkness fans keep a small light of hope.

a Wiimake would be cool, to be followed up by a new one. Damn, I remember that game creeping me out but good...

Never played Eternal Darkness but would love to add it to my collection but it's a bitch to find. A NPC version would be much appreciated but I can't see it happening. Wii has even less of an audience for that type of game than GC.

To me Eternal Darkness is one of those games you don't make a sequel for. Its story would be destroyed by one.

You say this after seeing the final ending? Come on!

Yes, I think they would just mess it up. Some stories are better left untouched.

Then suppose it's not a chronological sequel. Different world, different setting - maybe with the only common character being Mantorok

Or maybe without Mantarok and with a totally different title too.

No! You went too far!
