Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wireless Access Point question (Wii and DS)

The Nintendo DS systems only works with 802.11b and 802.11g routers, so, if yours isn't any of them, you won't connect to WFC. Besides, even some of these routers also doesn't work with the systems (which appears to be the case with my DSi). Any doubts, you should look in Nintendo Customer Service (for a quick guide on the routers, click here.

I got a Linksys 802.11g router and my DS, Wii and PS3 work fine on wifi, I rarely get disconnected, When it comes to routers i always trust linksys.

The problem I had with my DS was I couldn't connect to my wireless Linksys using either wpa or wep codes (i forget whichj).  Apparantly the unit doesn't support them.  Perhaps that's because I have the original Clamshell DS version from '05/'06 or whatever it was when I bought it.

sounds more like you are connecting but then gettin booted?  In which case, I have no clue why it would work...and then not work.

The folks @ Ninty America are really helpful and its pretty easy to get through to them.  800-255-3700

hmmm odd, give Nintendo a call they might be able to help you out

Hmm, i'm thinking... If your DS and Wii get to connect for a min or two, the router works, it could be that the router is in a channel that's getting alot of interference, Try connecting to the router and Change to Channel to 6. it's the most common one.

I had to set my wireless router to only 2mbps because of the DS not a big loss for me except for the PS3, but again not a big deal.

Use the guide linked above and you should have no problems.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Changing to the most common one is not the best way to avoid interferance if there are other wireless devices around.

IP conflicts? Set your DS to get a dynamically assigned IP each time (DHCP)

You mean "auto-obtain IP address"? Because if it is, it doesn't work on mine. Anyway, I'm confused now: how can I solve the IP problem?
