Forums - Nintendo Discussion - fps N64 Games on the virual console.. where are they?

there hasnt been a fps game released on virtual console yet,  i demand Quake 64, Doom 64, Turok, duke nukem 64 or even 007: World is Not Enough it cant be that hard to secure these games rights for the VC

sorry for the short post, this situation has been on my mind for quite sometime lol

Rights issues. iD is one of the least friendly 3rd parties when it comes to Nintendo, and only God knows who owns the rights to the old Turok games anymore.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

also controller issue, the Classic Controller is really nothing like the N64 pad

Akklaim had Turok 1, 2 and Evolution for sure, and midway sold Quake and activision did Quake2 .  Ya know, Im gonna have to take the dust cover off my N64 and fire that bad boy up and play some of those again...though doubt they will look so hot on the 50"  cringe.

It's pretty sad that after N64, no more Quake style goodness came to ninty consoles.

I think they should do a Quake 2 and Shadowman remake for wiiware

IP rights were bought by Classic Media.  Disney licensed game rights, so I imagine any rerelease would go through them.

Nintendo's started licensing 3rd party N64 games (Ogre Battle 64 from Square Enix being the first one), so I actually could see Turok 1-3 happening on VC some day.  Disney and LucasArts are probably the only western studios I think Nintendo's likely to strike deals with honestly (in Japan they'll round up the usuals; Capcom, Namco Bandai, Konami, Sega, Hudson, Atlus, Sunsoft, Taito, Koei Tecmo, etc, etc).

Not many western 3rd parties have jumped on board with regards to VC, it's almost exclusively Japanese developed games.

The C buttons can be mapped to an analogue stick or to some other buttons. There would be a learning curve.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

They were all mediocre except Perfect Dark and Goldeneye.

It would be unplayble, imagine playing Goldeneye or Perfect Dark like that...

I presume this is meant to be a knowingly wry comment, what with the Perfect Dark remake and all...

I'm apprehensive about the controls too, but it's the most sensible configuration for the current controllers.
