FPS games are timeless and last for a lifetime. FPS games can only get better generation after generation. Music games won't last because the only thing the changes is the list of songs featured in the game. FPS games will improve generation after generation because they will take different directions in the future. If you look at the history of FPS games, it started from games Asteriods then all FPS games went 2D, then from 2D to 3D, then HD, and then the introduction of online gaming. So as far as I'm concern the the future of FPS is very bright.

Given how FPS games are and will continue to diversify, I see FPS being only a vehicle for future endeavors. They've been around for long enough, and there have been enough to come out to have known if the genre would be saturated. It hasn't.

there was no FPS "bubble" in the first place, well maybe a bit for consoles.
