Well except that it seems that the article writer doesn't comprehend the pokemon games. Pokemon is not a continuous story. It is not a chapter story. It is not an RPG in the sense of other RPGs. Pokemon games are targeted at new players, seasoned players. By time these players hit the later iterations the games stop being designed for them. That's why Pokemon games don't change. They are not meant to. They are meant to bring new people into the pokemon world
Pokemon is using the Disney tactic. Appeal to young. Trying to be popular during the teens and early twenties, but when they are parents. The parents buy for their kids thus repeating the cycle. This is Pokemon. Anyone assuming anything more from Pokemon other than it's simple enjoyment is just sorta stupid.
I stopped playing Pokemon after Silver. So I played for 2 iterations. I'm done. I know the others after are the game. I know they are not made for me. They are made for my daughter. Who guess what, loves Pokemon.
Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
There's some truth to that but then again if you really think about it there are plenty of games that follow the same formula as their originals like Street Fighter etc. Thats just how it is.

Except that's still not true. Pokemon is made for kids and for the competitve gamers. The people who bitch about it rarely have a modicum of knowledge of the competitive metagame. Pokemon is incredibly deep.
People asking Pokemon to completely rewrite the formula into some 3D console action game might as well ask for Street Fighter to become a Zelda clone.
Unlike many series, the Pokemon games actually add new content to their sequels.
However, that still doesn't mean they aren't coming out with too many of them and too soon. A new main Pokemon game every year now, plus multiple spin-off games a year, is just too much. Even Mario and Madden isn't this over-saturated.

New main pokermon games are every 4 years. Actually the Diamond and Pearl generation is the longest in history. It's going to be a 5 year gap between that and Gen 5. Games like Platinum are just expansions, and games like HGSS are remakes, not main series games.

Uh...those are still main series games. Eventhough Platinum is an 'expanded' version of Diamond/Pearl, its still made by the main team and came out a year later. And Gold/Silver remake came out a year later again and was made by the same team again.
And since every gen has had a 'revamped' version (Yellow/Crystal/Emerald/Platinum), its not like Platinum is just a simple expansion. It was planned from the beginning.

99% of expansions for any game are "planned from the beginning." Expansions are defined by the fact that they add new content to an already existing game, including new storyline, areas, weapons, etc. The 3rd versions for Pokemon fit these definitions perfectly. They are expansions. Extra content onto the existing game. What "team" makes the game has nothing to do with whether or not it's a main game. Bioware makes their own expansions most of the time. Does that make all those brand new games?
And a remake is a remake. Main series games are the games that start a new generation. These are Red/Blue (Red/Green in Japan), Gold/Silver, Ruby/Sapphire, and Diamond/Pearl. They are a minimum of 3 years apart. Actually the shortest gap between generations came between the first and second generation. If anything Pokemon is less "milked" now than it was then, as far as the main series goes.
Is the person who wrote this a journalist? I ask because it is not only wrong but it is appallingly written. Have never seen so many typo's and spelling mistakes in any article before. If this person is a professional then God help us all. Surely any credibility this person had must have died with his argument. Seriously.

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!
I agree, but most games are. Pokemon more than others, but Sports games released every year tick me off even more.
