Whoa, whoa whoa

It was predictable that they'd change the primary core offensive mechanic of the entire franchise as radically as has been ever done before? Really now.

And it - the most radical gameplay change in the history of the franchise - came too late? So all changes that actually matter - not this stuff about plot or setting or sequence, which is all meaningless - would come too late?

Go into Naz's topic and pick out a profile for yourself, if you would. I'm curious about what you pick.

Perhaps it's a big change to you, not to me (perhaps because I've never had such a strong team as i have in DPt)... And, by the way, I consider myself a nostalgist hardcore.

If you think that the Physical/Special move split was not a big change, you're not Hardcore according to the profiles outlined by Naz

I said because I didn't have anything great in Ruby & Sapphire. I just started training for real in DPt

If you started in Ruby and Sapphire, you aren't exactly a Nostalgist, either.

I sated that I'm a Nostalgist up to IV Generation. Anyway, if you're SO interested on my profile, check it, don't keep asking me.

What I'm getting at is this: you don't have the perspective or the experience required to comment on changes that have or have not occurred in the series, and describe yourself as "Hardcore" in error. The only thing you have managed to establish is that you aren't really qualified to talk about changes that have occurred or may yet occur in this franchise.

Wrong again. I've played Pokémon since the I Generation, but Ruby was my first own game from the franchise. So don't start saying I'm a newbie because I AM NOT. And let's end this stupid discussion about my experience in the series because it's screwing with the thread.

"Perspective" is jsut as important here, and "experience" can be in more than one area, particularly when it comes to labeling yourself as "hardcore". Like I said: not acknowledging the importance of the offensive split speaks volumes about both perspective and experience.

And I think it's very important and on-topic, at least partially because the complaints of some people lose a certain amount of merit when viewed in the light that they haven't actually got the proper experience or perspective to speak on changs that need to be made to the series.

To clarify:

Nintendo makes these games for two audiences. The first audience is children, who want to train to be the Pokemon master. Beating the gyms, saving the world, catching legendaries, it's all part and parcel with actually playing Pokemon. These kids want to be able to do that. This is the most important audience.

The second and less important (but still intrinsic) audience are the hardcore, the people for whom gameplay changes like the offensive split actually matter. These are the people who actually understand changes to the system and how the series has evolved over time, and these people are catered to by changes which bring sweeping, almost revolutionary paradigm shifts to the metagame.

If you don't fit in either of those audiences, Pokemon isn't being made for you, so sorry, and your complaining is firstly meaningless and secondly without the perspective necessary to make Nintendo care.

the game cant be changed in its base so that it don't lose it taste , but the add in every 3 new titles
there wasn't berries in blue , red , green
there wasnt GTC even pokemon plaza
it may look the same but its not
and its best they keep the same roots but not the same branches
and the make 2 titles at first in order to make ver exclusive pokemon
but what you are right in is the 3rd title in better way

I disagree completely as well. You could really say that about most games but it won't make them any less great than they actually are.

You can say that all you do in GTA is kill, shoot, and steal,
you can say that all you do in FPS's is shoot people over and over again,
you can say that all you do in Tetris is make lines,
but in the end people will still like it.

i couldn't agree more. i've had tetris on almost every single platform and portable/mobile i've ever owned, including the latest wii title, they aren't very different but that doesn't mean that they're not fun

i'm actually playing pokemon platinum now (i just beat the 8th badge) and i find it VERY enjoyable, i've played every generation of pokemon games and some generations several times like blue & yellow, gold & crystal, ruby & emerald and now platinum

mario will always jump, halo will always shoot, Link will always slash ...etc i don't see anyone complaining abuot those

they should really make a "platinum" like version from the beginning.

that's why it may look as cash in, it's the same game minor differences.
