Forums - Nintendo Discussion - (Rumor) Nintendo ships Dev Kits for DS Sucessor

Basically it says that Nintendo has ship some Dev Kits for the DS-2 expecting some titles be avalible at E3.

i don't see nintendo releasing DS 2 this year, but if they do cool i guess. although maybe they are releasing it next year and are just giving third parties more time to create good launch titles for it by giving them the dev kits this early.

Cool. So long as the system is fully backwards compatible, this is fine by me.

What interests me most is the details of how it will be network integrated, and what model they go with.

I don't think this has to kill the DS either. Hopefully they should continue to release software that pushes the boundaries of the market on DS, that will be playable on the more powerful and network integrated DS2.

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Seems a bit 2 early doesn't it. Considering the DSi came out not too long ago. If the DSi was just a DS with DSWare... then that would be one thing. Sure, but it's not. They increase the resolution, cpu and ram. Which means it's more hardware wise powerful than the DS itself.

So it doesn't seem likely that after a machine with a hardware upgrade we are going to see a DS2 soon.

Though maybe a new devkit has been released that supports dual development?

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Probably allowing a lot of time for people to get accustomed to it.
A "DS2" probably won't appear until next E3.

They wouldn't announce a new generation of pokemon, their most important handheld game series, for the DS if they are planning another system. They'd want to put it on the new handheld to help establish momentum.

hmm 5 gen pokemon anybody?

@SaviorX

Your avatar is pretty cool...where is it from?

It could be DS2-enhanced. Gold and Silver where playable on the old Gameboys too.
