THIS IS AWESOME NEWS - DE BLOB IS THE NEXT MARIO CONFIRMED

THQ to expand de Blob franchise with webisodes and more

The world of de Blob always seemed quite fitting for a cartoon series, or to have a range of toys based on the IP, such as an I.N.K.T. Corporation gun that'd shoot out blinding ink. Well, the cartoon bit looks like it'll actually be happening, as THQ have today announced their partnership with media company Syfy.

The deal will see the de Blob franchise pushed forward with webisodes (internet cartoons) as well as television and consumer products. Television products? That's gotta be an I.N.K.T Corporation universal TV remote that shoots out ink instead of changing the channel.

"We are pleased that our owned franchise de Blob has been selected as a foundational character and storyline for Syfy’s new Syfy Kids brand," said Doug Clemmer, Executive Vice President, THQ Kids, Family and Casual Games. "We look forward to working closely with Syfy to introduce de Blob’s colorful world to a new audience of young adults via webisodes, television and other media, broadening awareness for this loveable hero."

- If any game deserved huge success for its unique and creative world its this. Pity they didn't do this for the original. If De Blob 2 is good, and includes enough new challenges, bosses (i want) and uses of liquid paint, in various forms, ill be very happy.

Personally the Inky's are my favorite.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Around the Network

In case you haven't played it (which is a HUGE shame because its the most original and creative platformer this gen.) here is the video of ALL cutscenes in the game. They are so beautifully done its a real shame they neglected to try short cartoon films years ago.

I hope its a successful venture

One of my favourite Wii games this gen, here's hoping the sequel benefits from these efforts.

Really does seem like it would benefit from a big licensing push.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Looking forward to the cartoons, if it's anywere near the awsomeness of the cutscenes then I'm happy.

If the cartoons are a hit. It could raise the sales of De blob 2.

Going multiplatform for sure.
