Forums - Sony Discussion - If PS3 Folding@Home worked miracles, people would still complain.

One of the cool features the PS3 offers is the Folding@Home project to help research how disease works so we can find cures.  One can have their PS3 work to help humanity.  Well, one thing I can see is fairly certain, is that if the project managed to get breakthroughs that help humanity, based on PS3 users being involved, SOMEONE would end up finding something wrong with the project and complain about it on here.  Maybe they would argue the repackaging was boring, or more likely, whine that Folding@Home isn't a game, and thus has no place on a console.

Particularly when it is done in an area involving fanboys who feel a need to rag on something that is well done.  Mass Effect 2 is generating backlash posts now.... That, of all games, is doing it.

yay, a thread to complain about hypothetical complainers.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Of course. It could be argued that thousands of people died because the people who folded on the PS3 could have bought the discovery faster with GPU folding.

They cured the common cold and that's just plain crap. I get to skip work for 3 days a year by saying I have a cold but now they took that away. Sony should just stick with gaming and leave my excuses to miss work alone. I hope a virus gets spread through the program and kills participant's PS3's.

I haven't turned my PS3 on for like 2 weeks.

But, I used to leave mines on folding@home to cure cancer.

Screw folding @ home. Donating your PS3 to cancer cell research is the reason WHY my ps3 got the blinking red light of death. my poor 60gb launch :'( Leaving your ps3 on is bad at any case, and leaving it on while its running full power stressing out your ps3 for days and hours will kill its life prematurally.

You joking right? The PS3 is 10 X faster than an average computer at folding.
