Forums - General Discussion - Is anybody here making music?

I thought this thread was asking if MakingMusic476 was on here with an alt or something.

I clicked on it because I am his friend on the PS3, and was going to contact him if you needed.. but you just want to make music.

Cool deal, but unless your looking for someone to just listen to it, I can't help you :)

I spend lots of time in FL Studio on a few occasions.

I haven't been doing it as much though because I'm constantly being told to turn down the volume, which not only makes it hard to listen to the smaller details, but it's also abit of a mood killer. I plan on spending alot on some headphones within a week or two and maybe then I'll be able to get back into it.

The amount of options and versatility you get with lots of VST's/soundbanks is amazing, so I find it hard to lock myself into a specific genre of music. I do like going for some Industrial though...

That's cool man.

I also had this problem where my neighbors stood in front of my door and were screaming to pull down the volume.

Bought some good headphones then. I have to agree that 300$ are a little bit overpriced for headphones but they seem to satisfy me for the next 20years.

Industrial is pretty cool. Ever tried making some Drum'n'Bass or DubStep?

Looks like I'm way to late.....

I wrote a song I'm actually performing tonight. Its not a song on FL or anything like that. It is a standard rock song with chords and lyrics and all that :-p

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Just asked myself if here are any hobby musicians? I'm not talking about playing a single instrument. I mean like composing a whole song with programs like FL Studio, Cubase, Reason, Sonar, Logic Pro or even having an own band.

I'm recently just making beats for Hip Hop, Rap or R'n'B but i also have made things like Techno or Drum'n'Bass

if anybody is interested in my stuff you can check it out here:

So how about you?

any other guys here with the same hobby or am i just the only one? T.T

I do like these sequencer type of tools, is FL studio the best one to use?

I had some fun with the one on the Xbox (XNA), but you cant export the results.

I highly recommend it. But i can't say its the best. Cubase is probably the most advanced one but with around 800$ its too expensive. FL Studio is great to begin with. It'll probably take you some time to get in but after a month you really get used to most of the things like the perfect sequencer. I also could mention that alot commercial musicians like Basshunter are using FL Studio. So if u have some time on your hands try the free demo of FL Studio and watch some turorials on YouTube. After almost 2years of using it i still find new techniques. The possibilities are endless.

So your're in a band? Or just a solo artist?

Band.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Im in a band too, we started like 2 months ago and made a few covers, we are now working on our own songs too. Some covers are in my sig and the rest we havent uploaded yet.

I would also recomend(besides guitar pro) using a website called Jamstudio and its pretty easy to make rocksongs there.

Drum'n'Bass....it's pretty interesting and some of it sounds very complex with all the breakbeats/glitches/etc. I've tried a beat or two but they didn't sound that good.

Dubstep.....was gonna get just a little into it because a friend was interested in making music, and she happens to love Dubstep. Never really got started on it though.

Definitely not. Many pros consider FL studio to be more of a toy/joke rather than a professional DAW (digital audio workstation). Still though, it has a huge amount of fans and is extremely popular, especially among beginners.

It's a very capable DAW though - unless you're a hardcore audiophile/DAW enthusiast, FL Studio will do everything you want it to do, and much more......it's my DAW of choice. Another thing that many say is that the sounds/synths it already comes with are abit on the cheap side, but that can be solved by using VST's/addons. I won't go into detail here about how lots of people get their VST's but, you can msg me if you're interested!
