Its really not possible to tell how long it will sell at this point. I went with 2012, but 2015 or later would not be out of the question. (though I feel pretty certain that by 2012 it won't be selling enough for VGC and other tracking organizations to be able to effectively track it)

can i say the end of this year? its on its last legs anyway, ps2 cost $99AUD now

It's probably more than just the PS2 making money, it's possible that getting rid of ps2 sales could help ps3 sales. Who knows if that's true... Just sometimes getting rid of older options puts people into getting newer goods.

It makes lots of money for Sony... so my answer is "when it stops making money for Sony".

I'd wager the final production run will be in late 2011, with final shipments in 2012. Even though they'll undoubtedly profit on every system they sell until it's discontinued, there will come a time when the opportunity cost(continuing to produce a small number of PS2s compared to some other product) outweighs it.

i think 2010 will be the final year of the PS2....Sony has squeezed all that they could out of that juggernaut, and they need to make Some more room for the PS3 and I think they can do that if the PS2 is discontinued
