Reason #5: Cheaper-- They show a picture of Diner Dash, Cubis 2, Solitaire, and other crap games. Those don't really count.

Reason #4 Controls-- Oh, I get it, satire!

Reason #3 Old games -- Oh wait, they're serious now?

Reason #2 Online WoW -- meh

Reason #1-- Satire again!

Yeah, I don't see myself embracing PC gaming any time soon.

You don't honestly think a normal console controller is better for a FPS or RTS do you?

Why yes I do actually (well not for RTS, but I haven't played an RTS in 7 or 8 years so I don't care so much).

In what regard?  I used to be a pure-console gamer myself until maybe 3 years ago.  I find console controllers both more difficult to use/less precise and less enjoyable.  Mouse + keyboard allows for much quicker movements, and the gameplay is changed for the better for me.  I didn't know anyone felt otherwise.  With the Wii, you might be able to make the argument that it's more enjoyable, but that's debatable at best, and there's no denying mouse + keyboard is king when it comes to performance.

Are you trying to tell me my opinion is wrong?

Hell I will take that challenge. I would say that your opinion is wrong. I frequently play both Console shooters and PC ones and can play both farely well frequently getting 15 kill streaks in MAG. However there is just no denying that a mouse can beat both an anolgue stick and for the time being a wii remote. The wii remote still hows it's flaws with most games with aiming and still has a slight stutter, however it does have the potential to be better.

What standard controllers provide a bonus for is the analogue stick for movement purposes. If i could take the wii nunchuk and combine it with a mouse that would the best control method I could think of.

Lets take another genre. Hypotheticlly if you could clone the worlds greatest street fighter player and have them play against eachother one using a DualShock, the other using a 360 controller. The one using the ps3 would win. The 360 D-Pad just sucks. Going back to controllers again, well use me as an example as i can use both really damn good. If you could clone me and had one of me using a mouse and the other using a Dualshock.  9/10 the one of me using the mouse will get that kill. Movement and precision with a mouse is way more accurate then a analogue stick to aim with.

Does this mean you will play better with a mouse? Right now. Maybe, maybe not, but most likely so since you're probably so use to using a controller. It's like using Wacom tablet for art. Hard at first, but once you get it down you don't want to go back.

Read the rest of the thread.  :-p

(also, I know someone who kicks serious ass in SFIV with the 360 controller, even against people with fight sticks)

They do have  left handed mouses and keyboards. I'm using an ambidextrious mouse :P

Also though i do agree with the keyboard. I'm pretty much a pro mouse guy.   I would like the nunchuck and mouse combine...seriously epic glory there.

I've yet to find a good left handed mouse, but that's beside the point, it's the keyboard that bothers me, not the mouse.

Now, if you have a link to a good wired left handed mouse with a high DPI I would be *ecstatic* (still wouldn't game with it though).

That an awful article.

My weapon of choice. I personally use 1600 DPI anything past that and I overaim.

That's actually what I have at home, I thought you knew of a good left handed mouse like that ;_;

I have some better ones:

5. Portability. You can take your gaming on the road or on the couch, your choice (Even on the toilet!). Much better than a handheld and a console, because a handheld is too lightweight too carry it around in contrast to a small 4kg gaming laptop and playing on a couch with a 15-17" screen is more enjoying than playing on the tv.

4. Flexibility. If you don't like something you can change it, try that with a console game. Mods can make for a personalised experience. You know what you want, and chances are someone else does too so mod away! And most mods which substantially change things in those games release only 1-3 years after the game, so you have nothing to do other than getting the game (see point 3 + 1) and wait a bit.

3. Dozens of free games to play. Try games like Fallout 3 or Mass Effect 2 for free.

2. Technological Prowess. You don't like jaggies in your favourite game? Kill them! You want a faster frame-rate, buy a new graphics card for the price of one console every 12 months. And if you have a laptop, you don't even have to bother changing your graphic card, just buy a new laptop. With a console you'll invest once per gen and can put your money in good software.

1. Direct Download + cheaper games. You're a hardcore gamer and you buy a lot of games? Great you can download a lot of games for free and you can play them without disc checks. So watch out for Steam sales, torrent sites and fill up that hard-drive!

Fixed the things you wanted to add but were too lazy, so you don't have to edit your post yourself ;)

Anyway.. of course i still need a gaming PC, i still gotta do some excel/word/working stuff to do at home.

Dreadful article/ advertisement, dreadful trolling- as usual.

5. Jesus... Handhelds aren't consoles. Decent laptops come with the same HDMI connection you can get with any console if you want.

4. So what? They are still valid games to play 1-3 years down the track.

3. Torrenting sucks. People who do it are assholes.

2. You can trade off resolution and graphics settings for AA. Also current high end gaming laptops have significantly more performance than the PS3 and/or Xbox 360, your choice.

1. Again, torrenting sucks.

Tease.

Pretty stupid article written from the perspective of a dyed in the wool PC gamer who felt it necessary to defend his platform of choice.

Putting a gaming laptop as the number 1 reason makes it sound as though laptop gaming is the most important reason why you must have a gaming PC. In a nutshell, "You must have a gaming PC because gaming laptops exist." Wait, what?

Even if I owned a Ben Heck custom laptop console special, I'd never use it, probably because I don't feel compelled to play console/PC games wherever I go, like when getting coffee, out socializing, driving to work, while using the toilet, etc.

My reasons for PC gaming without stating loose opinion as fact:
* Customizable hardware - build to precisely fit budget/performance
* Mouse and keyboard only for games best suited for M/KB controls, which is far from all of them.
* DD services like Steam that give you access to your games from any broadband connected game capable hardware.
* Mods if you're into that - the vast, vast majority of gamers aren't.
* Lots of cheap games and good deals, even WITHOUT stealing them, all excuses about DRM, greedy publishers, info wanting to be free, etc. ad nauseum aside. (Negated by the fact that three years into a console life cycle, shock: there are a ton of great games available cheap in addition to good deals on new games)

But gaming laptop? If you mainly game at home like most people, congrats; you essentially paid more money for less gaming performance.

Depends on your game preference I would imagine.

KB+M argument may become irrelevant, IF developers of certain genre's of games would make KB+M an optional control method (at least on PS3). If DA:O had the option of the PC view and KB+M controls then that's the way I'd choose to play it (once I get around to buying it for ps3, because I don't have a PC capable of playing it and I'm not about to get one any time soon). Same with FPS games, no reason consoles that can operate with KB+M couldn't have that as a control option. How hard would it be to implement?
