Their number one pick is Alienware? There's like a hojillion reasons better than Alienware. Hell, Alienware may count against the argument.

I could think of 5 wayyyy better reasons console gaming is > PC gaming. The only valid point they had was (arguably) better controls and cheaper games (free since everyone pirates games on PC).

The older games argument is hard to go against. The only console that even makes a dent against that platform is the Wii, and even the Virtual Console doesn't fully stack up to what's available between Steam and GOG and D2D.
I have some better ones:
5. Portability. You can take your gaming on the road or on the couch, your choice.
4. Flexibility. If you don't like something you can change it, try that with a console game. Mods can make for a personalised experience. You know what you want, and chances are someone else does too so mod away!
3. Dozens of free games to play. Try games like Fallout or Freespace 2 for free.
2. Technological Prowess. You don't like jaggies in your favourite game? Kill them! You want a faster frame-rate, buy a new graphics card. With a console you're stuck with whatever the developer gives you.
1. Direct Download + cheaper games. You're a hardcore gamer and you buy a lot of games? Great you can grab a lot of games cheaply and you can play them without disc checks. So watch out for Steam sales and fill up that hard-drive!
Tease.

In what regard? I used to be a pure-console gamer myself until maybe 3 years ago. I find console controllers both more difficult to use/less precise and less enjoyable. Mouse + keyboard allows for much quicker movements, and the gameplay is changed for the better for me. I didn't know anyone felt otherwise. With the Wii, you might be able to make the argument that it's more enjoyable, but that's debatable at best, and there's no denying mouse + keyboard is king when it comes to performance. |
Are you trying to tell me my opinion is wrong?
Well twesterm you did say you felt console controller was better than pc. Maybe next time if it's just your opinion say you prefer, or something similar.
In any case your ignorant if you really think a console controller is better than a mouse + keyboard for fps games... why do you think cod uses auto-aim thingy on consoles. I remember when quake 3 arena came out it was available on dreamcast and pc and it was possible to play across platforms and the pc players would absolutely rape the console users. The controls (as stated) are too limited with there set scroll speed where a mouse has adjustable scroll speed.

Here, I'll highlight the parts you missed.

Why yes I do actually (well not for RTS, but I haven't played an RTS in 7 or 8 years so I don't care so much). |
And I would say you're the one that's ignorant if you think you're opinion is the only one.
I'm left handed and I just hate using the arrow keys and numpad for shooters. It just isn't comfortable for me and using the mouse in my right hand isn't an option. I've tried many many *many* different control schemes and they all hurt my hand. I've tried control scheme after control scheme of other left handed people that say it's comfortable and I just don't like them.
Ontop of that, all the keys simply get confusing to me. The fact that most of them aren't even standardized makes it even worse when going through different games. Controllers are simple. I like simple.
So why would a control option that isn't comfortable be better than one that is? Please educate me, I must know why my opinion is wrong.
so... are the specs for the Alienware M11x any good? I do not speak l33t.
And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Hell I will take that challenge. I would say that your opinion is wrong. I frequently play both Console shooters and PC ones and can play both farely well frequently getting 15 kill streaks in MAG. However there is just no denying that a mouse can beat both an anolgue stick and for the time being a wii remote. The wii remote still hows it's flaws with most games with aiming and still has a slight stutter, however it does have the potential to be better.
What standard controllers provide a bonus for is the analogue stick for movement purposes. If i could take the wii nunchuk and combine it with a mouse that would the best control method I could think of.
Lets take another genre. Hypotheticlly if you could clone the worlds greatest street fighter player and have them play against eachother one using a DualShock, the other using a 360 controller. The one using the ps3 would win. The 360 D-Pad just sucks. Going back to controllers again, well use me as an example as i can use both really damn good. If you could clone me and had one of me using a mouse and the other using a Dualshock. 9/10 the one of me using the mouse will get that kill. Movement and precision with a mouse is way more accurate then a analogue stick to aim with.
Does this mean you will play better with a mouse? Right now. Maybe, maybe not, but most likely so since you're probably so use to using a controller. It's like using Wacom tablet for art. Hard at first, but once you get it down you don't want to go back.
CURRENTLY PLAYING: Warframe, Witcher 2

Read the rest of the thread. :-p
I don't know why people have such a hard time accepting I like controllers better than mouse and keyboard. I've had extensive use of both and I just simply like controllers better. Even in something like Left4Dead where I can directly compare both, I prefer the controller.
(also, I know someone who kicks serious ass in SFIV with the 360 controller, even against people with fight sticks)
