After getting some advice on vgchartz i decided that my first Ps3 should be a new one. So today i bought myself this nice piece of electronics for 277 euro's.  It's the 250Gb version and it came with nothing for that price .

Funny thing though, after having problems updating and keeping the network connection running,I decided to visit VGchartz on my Ps3 and what happens?

Java script error, and right now the ps3 is stuck/frozen. Turned it off just now...

Anyhow, i decided to buy a used copy of a probably terrible game because when I start out with the real stuff i want a Full hd tv connected. The salesman at the place i bought the ps3 could not make me a decent deal so i'll have to wait a few days untill i purchase that Full hd tv.

So, starting out with Clive Barker's Jericho and hopefully continuing?( since i had to switch it off) downloading the heavy rain demo, i can, within a few moments, experience my first current gen game.

(and to everyone curious: i'll probably hate the game but i'm a big Barker fan, because of his books, Weaveworld is one of them)

I need an HD tv myself, but the games look amazing already too, so it's only a minor thing to worry about. I'll be getting one this tax season though. (Hopefully)

Um, don't mean to be contrarian here prof, but going to an HDTV is a huge thing. Even my terrible, "last-gen" Xbox 360 games on my underpowered 720p plasma look miles away from an SDTV. Purchase one, now. I will send you $5 if that helps.

@weaveworld- That's a good price for the 250 gig, it's only $350 in America (yours would calculate out to $377), usually Europeans get totally hosed on prices. Welcome to the new generation, prepare to have your mind blown.

haha I know I know. As a college student I'm happy enough owning the most graphically extreme console on the market....but I do know the value of HD. My friend has an HD and it's fantastic. I feel bad for the people who say they can't see a difference.

Jericho is great. I loved the game back in 2007. I wish they would do a sequel one day. Enjoy yr new PS3!

The PS3 browser is hit and miss, some sites work fine, others lock it up. It starts up fast, and is good for quick surfing. What ever happened with the Firefox on PS3 rumor?

you dont need an hdtv to enjoy ps3 games they look so good in a standard tv. my friend thought i had my ps3 set up in hd when he saw me playing killzone 2 in my big screen (but not hd and actually pretty good tv) tv. i mean damn my tv is no sony hd bravia but it does come with a lot of connections (composite, s-video, component, etc.) and the games look damn good. i mean its mind blowing (not being sarcastic im actually impressed) if it looks this good in an standard tv imagine when i get my first hd tv *drools*
