Forums - Sony Discussion - Buying a Used PS3 Questions/Concerns...HELP

So I just found a ridiculously good deal on a PS3 on craigslist, so good in fact that it seems too good to be true. So I was wondering what sort of risks I could be looking at?

If I were to meet with the person and test the system, apart from the obvious which is playing games and movies what should I do/look for? Also if it was stolen by the person I'm buying it from what risks could I possibly be dealing with?

Thanks for any advice.

FYI the deal is 7 games, hdmi cable, dualshock 3 w/ cord, and a 120GB slim all for $120. I tentatively offered him $200 for it in an email but I'm obviously wary about this...

The PS3 could be broken. Or he might just need money immediately.

Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Slaughterhouse Is The Sh*t  .... NOW ........ B_E_L_I_E_V_E

If it's on sale for $120 why offer $200?

Given it's a slim there should be less risks of getting YLOD. Sounds like a nice opportunity if working well. I would also check USBs, WIFI and other cables just to make sure everything is OK.

You never now the situation. It would be good to test the system out and make sure its running just fine. Also what games our on his list? They may be old games. When did he purchase it? Yes, the value has gone down on the PS3. I found one cheap for about $175. So just be precautous.

I've had multiple great experiences on craigslist, and i offered $200 because it is well worth that to me if it works, and I've found good deals on electronics in a college town on craigslist get a ton of responses, so hopefully me offering $200 would shoot me right to the top of the list.

The games are:
Motor Storm
Soul Calibur IV
Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Resistance Fall Of Man
Grand Theft Auto IV
Need For Speed Carbon
Call Of Duty World At War

I mean not the newest of games, but nothing to scoff at.

Don't know why I didnt think of checking the wifi...that should,ve been a no brainer haha. thanks.

I'd say the options are:

1. Its stolen

2. Its broken

3. He's desperate for the money

I'd proceed with extreme caution.
