This is according to iSuppli it you trust their estimates, but i wouldnt be surprised if the cost was around there.  Talk about profits.  I wonder if by showing this chart to potential iPad buyers, right before they grab one to purchase, would feel less likely to get it now that they'll see how much Apple could be overcharging them?

I don't know if you knew this before...but all apple hardware is marked up quite a bit, doesn't matter what it is, if it's got the apple logo, it's marked up. If people want it, they pay that marked up price without question to support them.

I know some of Apple's products are rediculously overpriced but some seems to be a bit more reasonable.  I just thought the iPad was more along the line of a higher end netbook due to the price, but now i see it as equivalent to the low end netbooks. 

I actually believe some people dont know that Apple's products are overpriced.  Apple's created themselves this image that their products are all high-end (due to appearance and price), so some people feel when they want to get the good stuff they buy Apple.  One of my friend just bought a Mac laptop for this reason eventho i've told her Apple overprice, but maybe if i show her this chart she'll finally be more convinced.

Generally, I think its very useful if consumers know how much of a profit or loss a product makes.

How dare Apple make a profit on their products! It's almost as if... as if they're a for-profit business or something!

First of all, I wonder if the cost may not be slightly to somewhat higher because of being non-standard/proprietary.

Second, iSuppli never includes many costs both direct -- transportation (of the finished product), advertising and promotion, etc., and indirect -- research and development, dealer mark-up, etc. in their cost estimates.

Hopefully iPad will sell badly, because it's an iPod with a larger screen, so useless.

No card slot, and only 64 GB...Apple rapes customers and they love it...and demand more of that "criminal" action!

i hope they fail with this product for been so greedy, also there was no effort on making a real new product is just an existing one bigger

You can expect apple to sell any product for at least double what its actually worth
