I would guess that just before the 2010 holidays, Sony will finally put BC in all PS3s via a firmware update and then finally discontinue the PS2 just after the holidays.
my ps2 I think i had it ever since 2001-2003 sometime between the 2 i put it inside my ps3 box and i replaced ps2 with ps3....

well i still miss it. but i cant afford a ps2 now it cost 250 dollars here, because ps2 games are "free".

Do you really think they will put BC firmware update after?.... ummm, then why should I buy another PS2 for?... would it be better off just get a new PS3 Slim?
Nah, they'll only make ps2 games playable if you download them.
is there going to be any need to have a backup PS2?.....i thought that after the PS2 stopped selling Sony planned on updating all PS3s with backwards compatibility?
am I wrong or is this just a rumor?

I already did that and bought a 90004 model for 99 euros. I have the 70004 also which is working for about 5 years now no problems yet. So i guess i'll keep my new as a collective item...
The PS2 is already almost impossible to find new where I live; hardly any shops (including game.co.uk and amazon.co.uk) have it in stock.
Well, nevermind. The old boy had a good innings!

Thats crazy for a new one. The games really aren't 100% free but i see that Argentina must have a high piracy rate.
