Forums - Sony Discussion - Help Buying Television

Currently i have a panasonic 50 inch 1080p in my living rom. When i bought it, it was one of the best t.v.s in the market. it is still a great t.v. I play my ps3 on it. I also have a samsung 20inch where i play me xbox 360 on. It is an Lcd and i bought it 4 years ago. The sad part is that it only runs up 480p. I dont like playing on my panasonic anymore because i think it is too big and when i play games like battlefield and call of duty i cant focus on the whol screen. My 20 inch is fine but a lack of an hdmi post and resolution only up to 480p i am not really satisfied. I need help on buying a t.v. I want to watch blu ray on it so i guess it has to be 1080p. Unless there is no difference in quality of a 720p and 1080p t.v. Also is there a difference between 60Hz and 120Hz for gaming? I dont really care what brand it is but i do like samsung, sony, and panasonic. And it has to be within $500. Do any of you know a good t.v. that can fit my needs?

Walmart and Sams club have them. Also Amazon may have them.

I am not sure. I really do want a t.v. that is 1080p

37 to 40 inches is where i have found my sweetspot to be for gaming. You don't need a 120hz television for gaming... you'll end up putting the tv on game mode to reduce the screen lag that can occur on 120hz tvs. Finally 1080p is not necessary on Tv's smaller than 50 inches, but at this point almost every tv coming out is 1080p...If it's not, chances are its an old model and you probably want to look elsewhere.

I would look at either Sam's Club or Walmart. They have decent TV's for a good price.
