HR is as true of an rpg as you can get........its a choose your path adventure, you play a characters role and you somewhat choose how that character will progress in the story. Not all wrpg use shooting as a means of fighting but even if they do at least you can replay the game differently and get a different experience.....unlike JRPG's where linearity is bliss. |
I prefer JRPGs/"action/adventure with a leveling system" because I don't have to decide what to say every conversation, worry about my actions in the story, which is exactly as you say role-playing game. But what you miss to comprehend is that role-playing also means to play the act of a character. For example, role-playing as king author would always be the same, you can't decide to play a bad king author that eats people because that is not who he was. If you do, you are no longer king author but something else. In JRPGs we take on the roles of these created character and play as them.
