Gotta give it to Tidus for the way his Character was developed in FFX

You missed... twice. Vaan is the real MC, but we all know Balthier is.

My vote goes to Zidane, he had a sense of humor and was a ladies man. As much as I love FF8, Squall was really only an emo 16 year old still going through puberty. Cloud was not that well developed in the game as the other options, he had a lot of background story but his character itself was very static. Tidus would be my second option and Terra is from the "pre-FFVII" era which in my book is too old to compare to the other options which have more character development and other aspects.

We know nothing of the kind in either case; I was making a light-hearted joke in reference to the fact that Basch was planned to be the "main" character originally, and his role in the game is basically unchanged from that, though Vaan is the character whose perspective we rely on. Basch still plays the role of of the protagonist through most of the game, or at least the traditional role of the protagonist, though it could easily be argued that Ashe is the main character in every way that matters, including the focus of the story. It's not really possible to make that kind of argument for Balthier
