Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is LA NOIRE supposed to be fully funded by Sony?

I know this was earlier part of three exclusive games that Rockstar promised Sony in exchange of the GTA 4 exclusivity.

Then if no GTAIV exclusivity the deal is off.

Maybe it's the fact that Sony was once on top of the mountain in this industry, and the fall from grace has been swift and brutal. The worst thing about being on top is the fall to the bottom, and maybe the transition from PS2 dominance to PS3 heel-dragging has had a damaging effect on the fanboy psyche, leaving them vulnerable and insecure. Maybe fanboys are suffering from a severe case of paranoid delusion, brought about by denial that the PS3 is in third place when once Sony was leading the charge.

This game has taken forever in development so i could easily believe that Sony dropped funding of it.

I also did some research a while back and read that the boss of Bondi had some personal problems with some Sony boss and when Ken Kutaragi left, Sony stopped paying for the developement.
Can't remember the full story, but it was something like that.

This

This is also the reason that the game was being published by SCEA  instead of SCEE originally

1 - has it fully been confirmed it was funded by Sony? There seems to be some evidence.

2 - has it fully been confirmed it's multi-platform? Not sure. I know a website doing a special on the game said so but I'm not sure I've seen anything official

3 - have there been rumblings development did not go well, Sony and various others have tired to salvage something from the mess, etc? More than a few.

Conclusion, I'm still waiting to know for sure it's multi. If it is then either Sony didn't fully fund it or there was some get out or transfer clause. If Sony has chosen to give this up as an exclusive for something else from Rockstar then I'd say that doesn't bode well for this title as it implies Sony doesn't think it's worth having as an exclusive. The question then would be what in exchange did they decide was better?

No doubt it'll all be clear at some point.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

LA Noire was supposely to be an Exclusive for PS3 when they funded for LA Noire but due to the development team not meeting the deadlines, Sony cancelled it and stop funding. And to make up for it instead of paying it back Rockstar instead made Agent and other unannounced titles to be exclusive, Agent is one reason why its exclusive to the PS3
