This difference in shipped/shipping and sold isnt anywhere near as serious as people think:

The PS3 has sold 1.2m, averaging 300k per week since the end of 2009.

The 360 has sold 0.81m averaging 202k per week since the end of 2009.

The PS3 shipped v VGC is around 2.8m or 9 weeks stock

The 360 shiped v VGC is around 1.9m or 9 weeks stock

Is this hard to believe still?

Going by the same logic, Wii should be at 64.5m or so then. Big deal right there

And you can't say that Wii is selling out as an excuse because we have no confirmation of it and the same is said about PS3. Nor can't you say that Nintendo shipment figures go a different way since the same could be applied for PS3 or X360. What now?

I hadnt looked at Wii, but if you apply the same calculation then:

Wii shipped 67m v VGC 65m which means only about 4 or 5 weeks in the system, based on 400 to 500k per week

So I cant argue with you there... and I cant explain the Wii VGC numbers being so high when current stock levels at stores arent an issue and demand is still high..... there doesnt seem to be much slack in the system.  But it isnt way off is it?

I am just saying 360 and PS3 numbers seem reasonable.

I was only pointing out that I find hard to believe stocks are as high as nine weeks. That would be much more than half a quarter. PS3 is undertracked and maybe so is the X360.

Q1 2009: -386 Million
Q2 2009: -292 Million
Q3 2009: +861 Million
Q4 2009: N/A
Total so far: +183 Million

Looks like Sony as a company are going to post a profitable financial year. :D

your using the wrong figure I believe. You should be using the 211 million figure as 861 is operating profit not net profit

So there was no point in VGC adjusting the PS3 then? Since we can all agree the adjustment seemed to be off?

The numbers were changed in 2 areas because there was new information available that indicated sales were too high there (for all consoles, not just PS3). If Vgchartz can improve numbers in an area they should do so regardless if worldwide numbers might end up being a tad low beacuse of it. In the end total numbers will become more accurate if all areas are tracked correctly.

Bottomline, we can all agree on is that PS3 is most definitely undertracked.

nope.  and if you reason is merley shipped v sold then so is the 360.  read my earlier post to show the comparison.

Yes and both were wrongly adjusted very recently on VGC.

yes 211

No, the figures are correct. The numbers here are Sony Corporation's net income for the whole year so far. That $211 million is only for Sony's Networked Products & Services.

they probably were at 31.5 at the end of dec-

considering they were small shortages in january ps3 may be from 32.5-33.3

Good results! PS3 rocks, PS2 holding well, PSP also doing not bad (could be better - "thanks" to piracy), but there is already a signal to announce the next portable console. So, PSP isn't new. I hope it will be on E3.
