Sony's Q3 means the October-December period.
So Sony's Q4 (January-March) PS3 sales will be alot less than Q3.

They only post the total software shipment, meaning they don't talk about any specific game like Uncharted 2 in their quarterly earnings.

From MarketWatch: "For the full fiscal year through March, Sony halved its operating loss forecast to 30 billion yen ($330 million) from 60 billion yen ($60 million). It posted a 227.78 billion yen loss last fiscal year." http://www.marketwatch.com/story/sony-posts-sharply-higher-net-profit-2010-02-04 |
Presume you mean ~$660 million there.
But oh. :(
Edit: nevermind
Good result for the company, all the cost cutting (layoffs etc) paid off.
As for the Gaming/VAIO/Walkman division, not so great. They barely made a profit, in the holiday quarter that's not a great result:

It also says the profit was mostly due to VAIO, and gaming profitability unchanged (which basically means they broke even, as that was the result last year).
Summing up - good for Sony, not so good for the gaming division.
My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957
It's like txrattlesnake said the gap is only 5.2 million.
Folks, note that it says 33.5 until January 1st. Which means based on VGCHARTZ numbers at that point, we have about 30.8 Million on January 1st (31.5- 700,000K January sales up to Jan 23rd).
So vgchartz based on shipped vs actual sold is assuming that we have 2.8 million PS3 setting on shelves, which in my openion is hard to believe with the shortages we had with the 120 GB SKU.
What do you guys think?
