And if it everyone who thinks the PS3 is slightly low that's a harsh response, they do have reason to believe that and its hardly out of the question.

I think the VGC was correct before make adjustments last week... the 800k taken from PS3 is what is missing now.

Maybe PS3 is undertracked here... but no problem, the next financial results should arrange everything.

Other thing... this is just my opinion.

3 million ps3s on shelves? okay there buddy, PS3 is under-tracked and the PSP is so under-tracked that it is just unbelievable.

PSP is another case... is impossible have more than 7 million in shelves.

@ kowenicki: surely you can understand their problems with the numbers.

Things were changed based on a previous chart, not now, so that strikes a lot of people as odd (can't blame them, despite ioi trying to explain).

On the other hand: if the 360 had this big of a difference, I'd argue that you (and others with 360 affinity) would also be questioning some things (whether they'd be different in their approach doesn't matter)

The end of September ship totals was 33.5m for x360. VGC sales for Oct 03 - 31,962,871.
The end of December ship totals for PS3 are 33.5m. VGC sales for Jan 02 - 30,850,496.
And there were some shortages for 120gb PS3 model in NA during January.

So, when it is x360, then it`s sold. But when it`s PS3, then it is on shelves.

Just for the records, Sony didn`t changed their projections for fiscal year 13m - http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/data/bizdataps3_sale_e.html - they already shipped 10.8m and planning to ship another 2.2m by the end of March 2010. That will make around 35.7-36m by the end of March.

But, with time sales will be adjusted anyway. It`s just strange, that there is such difference, when it comes to shipped and sold numbers between ps3/x360.

Why surely?

Last year when the Wii got massive adjustments the gave the site praise for its numbers and now when the ps3 gets adjusted they condem the site even though ioi explained. That´s hipocrisy and only fanboy behaviour. If they have big problems with the sites numbers they should have spoken up at any time it was adjusted down not only PS3 and then praise the site when they adjust the other down.

Typical PS fans for this behaviour, you dont see xbox fans complain as much as them and the xbox got adjusted down too.

You'll not see 360 fans or wii fans doing the same thing you just want ps fans to do.  It's the exact same behaviour as when some member used to only post negative sony news and nothing negative on the 360. That's also hypocritical, but that's what happens. People who favour a console will mostly only react when something happens to that specific console. (Where are all the 360 fans when a PS3 exclusive scores over 90? Where are all the PS360 fans when a Wii game cracks another million milestone? Same thing).

And still "surely". If this happened to another console, those fans would also want to know how it's possible. It's not because more people are doing it with the ps3, that they're all fanboys and that it should be swept under the rug.

Well, there is only one party that we can blame here and it's Sony, those guys have the most ill-explained financial report. And since ioi says that it's not just us having these differences but other trackers as well..

..well then there is sometjing wrong with Sonys numbers ;/

And 2-3 million consoles in the ships, warehouses, retail chains isn't that hard to believe, sure 120GB skus might have been rare for christmas....what about the other skus then? And other countries beside US for that matter?

People should learn not to judge everything according to the length of their own stick.
