if ps3 has sold 33.5 million how comes vgchartz sales are 31million?

this might of already been brought up im just too lazy to go through all the threads pages?

because they think the rest 2.7m are mostly waiting in ships and warehouses, or on shelves i think as we know ps3 shortages that can't be true, it's simply too may, ps3 will only sell around 1 million(1 million ps3's = 200k*5) in a month now (or less) that means that's nearly 3 months worth's of supplies - which is why i and other people have pointed it out.

it's the future of handheld

Some logic.

PS3 production is year round.
PS3 xmas stock was very low, even after their were shortages.
There's no way that in a month nearly 3 million PS3 just appeared in warehouses and on boats yet not in stores.
PS3 production is not capable of creating so many in such a short time.

VGs adjustment down was wrong and they should own up to their mistake and fix it.

Funny how every store i have been in was out of PS3 yet had stacks of 360s.

But million of PS3 are in shipments lol. They don't produce them fast enough for there to be that many on boats.

Oh yeah, your an unbiased source.

Sony reports sales to retailers. (Wal-mart, Sears)

VGchartz reports sales to consumers. (You, Me)

Least i have intelligence on my side, ohh and reality.

Any store you got to they have ample supply of 360s of all kind, while you are lucky to find a 120gig PS3.

If there were shortages of 120 gig PS3s there would be actual articles and reports on it.

The only console that might of had real shortages this December/January is Wii.

Even if there were shortages it wouldn't particularly matter since a number of the consoles "shipped" haven't actually reached stores yet.

33.5 million shipped... about 31.7 million sold via Vgchartz numbers.

That's... 2 million at the most.  They wouldn't of shipped anything they hadn't received payment for first.

It takes about a month for shipments to get across the ocean as far as I know.

Hence why nintendo had to Airlift January supplies to the USA for December.

its kinda funny....ioi adjusted the ps3 x360 psp ds and wii sales because of the report of NIntendo!
now That sony reports a way better figure(dec!) its kinda weird.

what also is weird is when micrsoft of nintendo says whe sold this amount of units then everybody belives jups it sold.
but when sony says it sold this amound of units then everybody says"noo noo they mean shipped not sold" go and call sony and ask what they mean. if not STFU sony knows 100x better what they have sold and shipped.
and not Nintendo or you

This difference in shipped/shipping and sold isnt anywhere near as serious as people think:

The PS3 has sold 1.2m, averaging 300k per week since the end of 2009.

The 360 has sold 0.81m averaging 202k per week since the end of 2009.

The PS3 shipped v VGC is around 2.8m or 9 weeks stock

The 360 shiped v VGC is around 1.9m or 9 weeks stock

Is this hard to believe still?

If you remove the high selling first few weeks after December then that brings the average's down lower that what you put here, so in reality the site could be between ~11 and 15 weeks stock off.

Also, do you think retailers and Sony/MS have adapted so quickly since the PS3 started outselling the 360? I mean do you think it's plausible at this point for retailers to have ~1M extra PS3 units on their shelves than 360 units?
