Deal with it, fanboys!®

So then what will Versus be like...?

Is making games like the old FFs really that hard on the HD consoles...

I don't think that difficulty is really the point here so much as the changed expectations of people and how this is going to reflect in the games themselves.

If they try to make FFVII like it was before - polygonal models with pre-rendered backgrounds and fixed cameras put at different points in the environment - then they'd have to make very high resolution art assets to go along with that, right? Much, much more detailed than what the PS1 game had?

I thought versus was supposed to have all the towns and cities and whatnot of previous FFs.

Time for hype

You are thinking of Dissidia, I think. And not all, just selections.

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

Think about every town redone in Full 3D... that would take at least a year. PPl really dont understand the hardship of creating a PS1 game to the PS3.. its literally making a whole new game... its not FF7 with HD graphics..hell no..

Redoing every town in Full 3D would be a Hell of a lot easier (and cheaper) than the route that they would actually take.

i dont care anymore

There was a time when Squaresoft was the one to set the graphics bar higher than everyone... pity, it looks like they have spent more in remakes than keeping their staff updated.

For fucks sake, why don't they worry instead in making great games with great artwork, they don't need to be technical marvels...

It would not be that hard, just look at open world games. They have towns with people and all that good stuff right? So why would this be any different? The fact they did not do it with XIII is because I think they wanted to hurry it out. The next FF title will most likely be able to have all the towns we are used to. Honestly if it does not then they are just crap and should give up all IP's so a developer with passion would continue them.

They have an engine now, so maximize it and use it.

It's an excuse.
