Forums - Sales Discussion - Darksiders: selling under expectations and being discontinued?

The sooner it's disCOUNTED, the sooner I'll buy it. At JB HiFi they have it on their list of "trade in 3 PS3 games in exchange for this new game". I just don't have 3 games I want to trade at this point (at least not that JB will want).

Darksiders is a very nice game. What i'm getting from this THQ report is that, while the game has sold ok, it is below sales projections. I mean, it could be anything, their sales projection could have been 1.5 million for all we know. My point is, we all might think the game is selling ok or well, but the execs at THQ had a figure in mind the game hasn't met.

I pre-ordered it and got it and really like the game, gotta love a videogame whose entire visuals are based on Joe Mad art!

THQ had a good quarter and didn't say anything negative about Darksider sales, seemed to think they'd met all their targets and were set to have a decent year. VGC seems to suggest this game has been a pretty big hit, we'll wait on NPD for confirmation.

I really don't trust this source to be honest, everything he's said seems speculative and what he's basing it off feels like wild guesses and assumptions. We'll wait and see I guess, to me though it's going to fly past Red Faction which surely THQ can't have expected to outsell lol.

Also did this game really have a large marketing budget? I didn't see the thing at all, it kind of amazes me how well it sold according ot VGC 0_o.

Really? I saw tons of adds on magazines, tons of banner adds in websites everywhere, it was 3 years in development, it's tied to one of the highest profile comic book artists in the last 20 years (Joe Madureira), it's an AAA game, and from all the coverage i'm guessing it had a pretty extensive marketing budget as well - and to clarify before someone posts a smartass comment, i'm saying AAA because of budget, not the internet thing where people think a game is AAA or not based on score (AAA and AA are industry terms for allocated budget, it has nothing to do with scores).

I dont believe 2 weeks of data is enough to come to this conclusion. I call fake.

Yeah, Industry Gamers is making shit up, that's definitely what's happening. "Signal Hill Capital" probably doesn't exist.

They do exist.  Look, I'm going to help you.  There's this website www.google.com and if you go there and type things in the bar it will give you back a list of more information then you could ever possibly need.  Try it some time, put anything you can think of in there, and good luck exploring the world wide web!

Thanks man, I'm new to this "internet" thing.

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
