Forums - Microsoft - MS really tries to 'break the bank' at E3?

Hey guys,

The GDC is almost finished and so far, nothing huge happened across all platforms. There is a new Zelda announced for the DS, which was kind of a surprise, because everybody expected the next Zelda to be on the Wii. There is a new Ratchet and Clank, a new Modern Warfare 2 (expected), a new RTS by UbiSoft, a new engine for PS360 and that's about it. Last year there was the Gears of War² announcement, which was expected, but huge anyway.

This time, there is not a huge game, of course Modern Warfare 2 will sell well, but the CoD-games get yearly releases anyway, just like Madden or Fifa. So this was not a shocker at all.

But looking at MS, they still haven't announced lots of things for their line-up this year.

We know Remedy is working on Alan Wake, Turn 10 is working on Forza 3, Rare has 4 projects running right now, Peter Molyneux just said, they do not want to show their new project right now and we haven't heard anything about APB, Huxley or Splinter Cell Conviction either, except that Splinter Cell is still an exclusive. Could it be that MS waits till E3 to break the bank, like they said a while ago?

I mean this is an insane amount of games that needs to be revealed some day. Just half of the games / projects at E3 would definately secure a successful E3.

So what do you think?

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

GDC isn't really a place to announce games man,E3 is where is at BTW,Umm not sure what will MS announce to make happy tbh..I'm much looking forward too mass effect and bioshock 2

The reason Gears 2 was announced last year is because it's so tied to UE3 as its flagship-demo title. Last year they introduced a major revision of the engine and they used Gears 2 to showcase it.

Microsoft just won't announce anything until E3 unless it's releasing in the next couple months.

E3 is so long away :(

However

Splinter Cell: Conviction
Alan Wake
Forza 3
1st Rare game
2nd Rare game
1st Lionhead game
and 2 other games and I will be a happy man

So far though there is only a rumour of Forza making 09 ...

I'd write that off as vaporware for now.

Nah its coming ;)

I have a feeling that people are going to be really dissappointed by Microsoft's suppossed "breaking of the bank" at E3.

I mean honestly? What new exclusive games did they announce last year?

Scene It? Box Office Smash
You're in the Movies
Lips
A handful of XBLA games

Now I should think that Microsoft can't do much worse than last year since they should at least have Forza 3 and a new Rare title to show off, but I don't see what makes people think they'll definitely show more than that and perhaps sequels to last year's revelations. Microsoft will most likely do what they do almost every year and concentrate on their exclusive games coming out in the next six months or so as well as major multiplatform games such as Modern Warfare 2 and Assassin's Creed 2.
