I thought we had enough of doom articles for sony ,,,it's now time for some positive news .

with the 45nm RSX and cell on the way and PS3's awesome line up in 09,Sony might have a very  good year in 09.

it's time for  celebration ;)  .

According to www.sony.net , they made a $4 million profit and set a guidence of a $1.3 billion loss for the year for the entire company.

Yup but profit is coming ,,,especially with sony breaking even on PS3 with the new Cell and RSX in 09.

09 shall be a very good year for Sony.

Sony are not breaking even on the PS3.

The latest quarterly results prove that. The profitable PS2 and PSP got them to $4 million, and those two platforms are dying (quickly in the PS2's case).

Sony are probably at LEAST a few months from breaking even on the PS3 and even then the console is selling poorly at this price relative to the other consoles, so they will need to drop back into losing money if they hope to recover with respect to the console war.

Well...
PSP+PS2+PS3 = $4million , I am quite sure that PS3(Software+Hardware) isn't breaking even yet. Maybe later this year.

@blu lady^^^no ,,,it could be they are making a deal with a company (hence spending money and reducing profit)

it's not necessarily all PS3.

PS3 (80gb)has around $50 loss but i think they are not making any loss on 160 GB.


Sony said they'll break even in 09.

Nintendo just announced $2.3 billon in profits for this last quarter. half of Microsofts 4 billion. Thats a huge compliment to nintendo because they only have 2 products!

Sony said PS3 would be backwards compatible, Sony said they will make a lot of profit this year... Humm? See the pattern? :)
