Forums - Microsoft - M$ is raising the prices of development kits to $2,000. Fewer xbox games in future!?

After Microsoft laid off over 9,000 employees, forced gamers to "digital only," and raised the prices for their consoles/microtransactions/gamepass... now this:

M$ is raising the price of development kits to $2,000. That's an increase of about 33 percent. Its crazy. The consequence will soon be clear: There will be fewer games on Xbox from developers in the future. Additionally, some developers are planning to stop releasing disc versions on xbox. It's simply not worth it. Personally, I find it unbelievable how one of the richest companies in the world is targeting gamers and now developers in order to maximize profits.

What's your opinion? Calls for a boycott of xbox are growing louder, worldwide. However, statistics and, above all, money seem to be far more important to Microsoft than everything ?!

They might as well make money somehow! I suppose that the big picture is that Microsoft isn't any good at this business and will have to pull out eventually. That overshadows the much smaller issue of pricing.

Not much to think about, dev kits tended to be very expensive +5000$ during PS3/x360 era.
Adding 500$ will not change much, it is not a good thing but if they made it cheaper would it really create more games?
They must be selling more of them considering the number of games on xbox releasing has been steadily increasing +56 this week alone.
