Forums - Sony Discussion - Naughty Dog hiring programmers with Nvidia GPU and PC experience for TLOU 2

Recently, there have been rumors that Sony might be looking to follow Microsoft's footsteps and start embracing PC releases for their 1st/2nd party exclusives. Recently it was reported that Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to PC, but that is an old game now, not too big of a deal for most people. However, recent job listings at Naughty Dog suggest they are hiring programmers with Nvidia GPU and PC programming experience, which may mean that Sony is considering embracing PC releases on newer games as well.

Thorough understanding of current GPU architectures (AMD GCN, NVIDIA CUDA)

Experience with DirectX12, Vulkan or other modern graphics or compute APIs

Console or PC programming experience

Must be because the architetures are already close to PCs tho.
It also says "console" but you don't expect it to come to XBOX too, do you?

One possible explanation would be that they want programmers for console (PS5) and programmers for PC. But this could easily just be a blanket job posting that doesn't mean much, they might be ok with hiring programmers with PC experience to work on Playstation games since PS5's architecture is very close to PC.

As someone at resetera already pointed out, this could be about the standalone multiplayer that will come out later.

seems a lot like a nothingburger that's been reheated (1y old listing) due to recent rumors

it's just a general job experience description - they are not going to reject ppl that only worked on PC/Nvidia architecture even if they are hired for positions where they'll dev for console/AMD arch

Would definitely be cool for standalone online multiplayer.

...and so it begins.

Yes since TLOU 2 won't have multiplayer. (I think it's a good thing).

The Last Of Us Part. II Impact will be like that. I agree.

I can't wait to in April what Final Fantasy VII Remake will do to PS4. But that's another question.
