Ok, what to do? My PS3 doesn't read my games anymore, and when it does read them (it occasionally happens), the game has no sound or crashes after a while. I have no receipt, but the console is less than a year old.

I'll call Sony tomorrow, but I heard they can be a bitch about replacing consoles...

It should still be under warranty if it's under a year old, so hopefully they will be nice and fix it. My wii died a couple months ago and Nintendo was extremely prompt. From the time I e-mailed them to the time I got my wii back was about a week and a half. Companies want happy customers, so just tell them to make you happy.

Did you buy it with a credit card?  You may be able to get a record of the purchase from them.

No, I bought it second-handed. But I'll probably tell Sony it was a gift.

that's odd cause either it works or stops working (due to blu ray optical),,,anyways I ve heard they are extremely good in handeling these situations,,,BUT you have to have a receipt so they know how old it is and you are the owner of the console.

I ve heard (in the last winter holidays) they will send you a courtesy PS3 the next day and take your ps3 away and fix it and give it back to you in 1-2 weeks

Thats bad luck. The PS3 is so reliable. I hope they will replace or fix it but knowing Sony they wont. They need to be nicer to their customers.
