They arent giving a specific number there.

We have shipment data at 7.63 million by the end of Sept.

3.11m in Americas, 1.95m in Japan and 2.56m in Other

NPD has Switch over 300k & Media Create has it over 230k in Oct. Lets give all the other regions a conservative 170k and you have about 700k for Oct.

That would put Switch sales under 6.3 million by the end of Sept or in other words close to 1.5 million still on shelves which is obviously not the case.

1.5M on shelf, in transit or in warehouses seem plausible to me.

Americas-3.11 million shipped

NPD has it at 2.3 million in USA and Canada numbers  are around 200k. Thats 2.5 million without factoring in Latin America which are probably near Canada numbers.

~450k on shelves, in transit or warehouse

Japan-1.95 million shipped

Media Create/Famitsu have it around 1.8 million

~150k on shelves, in transit or warehouse

Others-2.56 million shipped

Americas+Japan have ~600k, so that means close to 1 million (40% of shipped units) on shelves, in transit or warehouse in Others.

Just doesnt add up.

Those are assumptions based on location though. You can't actually account for number in transit or on store shelves. The fact is that The Switch has been sold out everywhere until September and is still sold out in Japan. I think it's reasonable to assume that The Switch has around 600K in transit or on store shelves.

Either way shipped = sold to stores so the money is in Nintendos bank and that's all they care about.

So glad hardware is going to be updated regularly again! It really was time for ioi to let it go.

Awesome job trunks and Machina! Keep it up :)

Ioi actually has been letting Trunks do it for a while now. However, until recently he wasn't able to make adjustments.

Just letting you know, I've spotted few mistakes in weekly global HW figures, dating back to 9th of August 2014. Either weekly or total numbers for PS4 and PSV are incorrect.

http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/41861/Global/

PS4 total is 9,983,454 where it should be 9,918,558 --> difference of 64,896
PSV total is 9,073,614 where it should be 9,254,660 --> difference of -181,046

Also there's a similar mistake in 3DS and WiiU figures from 20th of December 2014

http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/41994/Global/

3DS  total is 47,940,284  where it should be 48,982,969 --> difference of -1,042,685
WiiU total is 8,393,706 where it should be  8,468,063 --> difference of -74,357

And in XOne figures from 21st of March 2015

http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/42085/Global/

XOne total = 12,046,284 where it should be 12,021,182 --> difference of  25,102

US December 2017 sales adjusted to match NPD figures for the 4 main systems.

PS4 was adjusted up in ROW to match the 73.6M figure for December 31 released by Sony when the final week of 2017 goes live.

I will ask ioi to remove Wii U, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 for the first week of 2018 now that Media Create has stopped tracking them.

As a reminder it can take a little while before the adjustments show on the front page.

Here are WW sales through Dec 23:

  • PS4 - 73.1M
  • X1 - 36.1M
  • NS - 11.9M
  • 3DS - 70.2M

That's kinda sad to see such fixtures removed. Plus, I won't be able to joke about the Vita outselling the Wii U 27 - 1 like it did this week. Ah well. Sunrise, sunset.

Is those Switch's numbers right? By famitsu, in dec's 24th the Switch was at 3.3m no japan, and it = 25% no ww.

3.3 x 4 = 13.2 million in december's 24th.

I dont believe 25% was a confirmed amount, more like an approximation based on earlier figures.

Nintendo announced sell through over 7 million at the end of Sept, Japan sales were ~1.8 million at that time.

Nintendo announced sell through over 10 million as of Dec 10, Japan sales were ~2.7 million at that time.

In both cases Japan sales were slightly 25-27% so he probably assumed the same thing applied for the end of the year.

Edit: Also at the last fiscal report shipments were 7.62 million globally with 1.95 million in Japan, so again around 25%.

Sorry to nitpick, but i still feel like switch sales in Europe are too low.

The region that Nintendo calls "Others" has remained right in between Americas & Japan in each fiscal report and each sales update from them.

Shipments as of March

Americas-1.20m

Others-0.94m

Japan-0.60m

Shipments as of June

Americas-1.95m

Others-1.63m

Japan-1.12m

Shipments as of Sept

Americas-3.11m

Others-2.54m

Japan-1.95m

Sell through as of Sept

Global-~7 million

Americas-~2.8m, over 2.3m (USA), over 0.2m (Canada), ??? (Latin America, lets say similar to Can)

Japan-1.8m

Others-~2.4m

Sell through as of Dec 10

Global-over 10 million

Americas-~4 million, 3.4m (USA end of Nov)

Japan-2.7m

Others-~3.3m

Sales end of 2017

Global-???

Americas-~5.5m, 4.8 (USA)

Japan-3.3m

Others-???

Americas+Japan is likely around 8.8m, and assuming others is still right in between those two regions it should be at or above 4 million.

Another bit of evidence is that France made up 20-25% of Europe totals for DS, Wii, 3DS & Wii U. It was confirmed that France is over 900k so assuming it has a similar ratio as those other Nintendo devices than Europe would be around 4 million.

Its probably not a massive amount and im sure you guys are just waiting for some more official data but it seems as though Europe should be a bit higher.

But keep up the good work, you are doing a great job and i really appreciate the work you have done to get numbers out in a timely manner and as accurate as possible!!
