So I thought that after the huge wait I had transferring the data over, I'd try a few games out... first game I picked up was inFamous: Second Son, did a fresh install and played it first without any patches... it played just as it did on my old PS4, still looks great too by the way!

... Then I downloaded the patches including the one with pro support and everything changed!

Holy fuck it looks so good, it's like... even the contrast and colours have changed, everything looks more vibrant, the lighting is better, and holy shit having the framerate unlocked makes it run so smooth! I didn't think I'd be able to tell much difference with the resolution increase either, but even from the pause menu you can see everything go sharper, and then you go back into gameplay and it just looks so... fucking good! Even when picking the "Higher framerate" option everything still looks better than my old PS4 did.

I was in such awe of the changes that I haven't even tried any other games yet, I've been running around using powers and stuff in here, it's just absolutely gorgeous now, and it already looked amazing originally!

I've been meaning to play through the game again at some point, do an evil playthrough, and this is making me want to do so even more! Although unfortunately I'm going to have to push it back since I've got too many unplayed games I need to get through before I can go back to revisiting already finished games, lol.

I dont know about the Pro, but I found on PS4 the HDR implementation seemed to make a great difference to vibrancy. FFXV last night was the first time I had turned it on!

I dont want to sound skeptical, but, is it really taht much difference? I mean, in Uncharted 4, everything looks so good that I doubt it can be better. Or with The Order, I know its lower res, but already looked so good that makes me wonder if the leap with PRO will be that much better for some games.
I am looking for a good excuse to buy a PRO, but its hard for me to imagine better graphics. Same for Xbox1. I am sure I wont get a Scorpio, but I really want to give PRO a shot.
Are you sure this thread is not just the excitement of new hardware talking? Dont get me wrong, its just that where I live there are no PROs and I will have to order it from EBAY and itll cost more than $500 to bring it home, si it really has to be worth it.

Well I've not tried Uncharted 4 yet... mainly because I don't actually own it yet lol, still need to get around to buying it, but the difference in inFamous is huge, and it's not like I'm remembering the game before the patch differently, since I played the vanilla game (No patches installed) for a good half hour, then installed the patches and loaded it back up afterwards... the difference is there, and it's so noticeable, moreso when you go straight from one to the other!

If you're not sold on the Pro yet, you're better off doing what I did, just search all over the internet for comparisons and stuff... I made sure to do a lot of digging to make sure it'd still be worth it while still having a 1080p screen (I use a 24" computer monitor for my console gaming... sit right here for it, lol)

A new 4k tv will be arriving soon, and I have inFamous SS (got it day one Xp).

Guess Ill have to save money then. And as you mentioned in the OP, I will do the Evil run, since I just finished once. First without update, and then will update just to experience that transition ^^

EDIT: Btw, dont forget to get Uncharted. In the OG PS4 its very impressive.

Also you can't really bring The Order 1886 into this since it hasn't had a Pro patch or anything... although I have heard of some games that benefit even without a patch, mainly in the form of more stable framerates though.

Are you playing it on a 4K tv? I compared Infamous First light on my 1080p projector, switching inputs between ps4 and pro. It's hard to tell the difference. The pro makes 4K screenshots, yet at 1080p it looks very similar. You do get a bit smoother movement with less visible aliasing.

Guess which one is from ps4 and pro

Maybe it's my old eyes but I bought a Pro on launch. Before launch, actually. And just before my Pro arrived, I bought a 4k TV. Do the games look better? Yes. But at the same time, it might be the TV. It might be a placebo effect.

In my game room, connected to a Sony XBR49800XD (Bravia) are a PS3, PS4 Pro, PSVR, Xbox 360, an Xbox One with Kinect (soon to be an Xbox One S when it arrives from Amazon), and a WiiU.

In my living room connected to a 1080p Vizio LED are and Xbox One with Kinect and an original PS4.

I go between both rooms, often playing the exact same games, on a regular basis. There's a lot of money invested in my gaming setup because I'm fucking insane with no sense of the value of the dollar. I can't, with a clear conscience, encourage somebody or make them feel jealous because the improvement the Pro offers is there but it's not THAT BIG.

I have inFamous SS, inFamous First Light, Ratchet and Clank, RotTR, Bound, TloU, Uncharted 4 a few VR games, and some other games I'm definitely forgetting. I had an image in head of what the Pro would look like and, to be honest, the games just look like PS4 games. Even with RotTR, I spent an hour jumping from mode to mode trying to spot the differences. You really have to look to see them. It's not night and day.

My Xbox One S should be here by Friday. That means Xbox in the living room, game room, and bedroom. I'm already imagining how good Gears 4 is going to look in HDR but I have to tell myself, "Don't get too excited. Have realistic expectations." But it's not easy.

Same with Pro. I can't tell you guys what to buy. I'm just some random internet guy. I can only warn you. Don't get too hyped. Reality hits hard.

I've been switching between modes too on Rottr playing to unlock the VR mission. I can see the picture going slightly sharper between 1080p and 4K downsampled mode. Not a lot sharper, you don't notice the difference while playing, if anything it makes it look a bit more like computer graphics instead of a softer filmic look. The extra anti aliasing it brings is nice though, but not a world of difference.
The difference to high frame rate is very clear, a shame it doesn't lock to 60 as the variability is also pretty noticeable.
But for the life of me, I can't spot the enhanced visuals? Maybe the hair moves a bit more while casting sharper shadows, that's all I think I could spot.

There's a much bigger difference between the colors my ageing 3LCD projector produces and the OLED PSVR headset. You're better off getting a new TV than a ps4 pro tbh. Unless you use it for PSVR or HDR. On a regular 1080p screen, don't expect much. Maybe later pro enhanced titles will actually bring some more noticeable differences. It's still early, let's see what Horizon zero dawn does with the pro.

it supports 60fps pretty smooth
