Forums - Sony Discussion - Zen Pinball 2 PS4 Is Backwards Compatible (Full Table List Included)

Tagged games:

I’m an enormous fan of pinball. It always has been, and always will be, one of my favorite coin-op arcade games. One of the biggest issues with loving pinball prior to 2008 is that it was tough to quench your thirst on a regular basis. Zen Studios changed that with Zen Pinball. After getting some traction, they released Zen Pinball 2. From there they’ve been able to secure licenses to notable IP’s from Marvel Comics, Lucasfilm and EA.

As we near the release of Zen Pinball 2 on PS4, we’ve been clued into the fact that the title will run a silky smooth 60fps at full 1080p resolution. The 20 tables that will make it onto Sony‘s new console have also been revealed. The full table library is as follows:

 Star Wars™ Pinball

 Star Wars™ Pinball: Balance of the Force

 Marvel Pinball™

 Marvel Pinball™:Avengers Chronicles

 Marvel’s Doctor Strange (Brand new!!! Also available on PS3 and PS Vita)

 Plants vs. Zombies™ Pinball

 Epic Quest

 Paranormal

 Earth Defense

Some of the collections like Marvel Pinball and Star Wars Pinball include multiple tables. Sorcerer’s Lair is being offered free with the initial download of Zen Pinball 2. Another notable fact to keep in mind is that Zen Pinball 2 PS4 supports backwards compatibility (for the 20 available tables). That means any tables you’ve purchased on PS3 and PS Vita can easily be imported onto the PS4 version. Even if they were acquired through a service like PS+. The phrase “Most content you have purchased in Zen Pinball 2 on PS3 can be transferred to Zen Pinball 2 on PS4.” was used. We’re thinking the statement is referring to tables that aren’t available on the PS4 version, but that remains to be seen. Also note that tables are only able to be imported FROM PS3 to PS4, not the other way around.

Zen Pinball 2 is set to release December 24th, barring any further delays.

ITs all still confusing you can only upgrade to PS4 if you buy ps4 you dont get the old formats, and theres not really any info on upgrading from vita.

Its a bit of a confusing mess, but i think the idea is if your new to it possibly buy it on ps3 or vita, then upgrade.

The game itself is free... the tables are avaialble to buy on PS Store... so all the PS3 content you purchase can be imported in PS4 version.

There is no upgrade at all... the game is free with one tables in all formats.

Looks like I invested in the wrong one. I played Pinball arcade a lot on ps3, that's available now on ps4. However none of the tables carry over. You only get a discount if you have bought all tables on ps3.

Yeah but i beleive if you buy tables on PS4, you cant import them on PS3 or Vita, So if you want it on another platform you need to buy it on PS3 or Vita first then import it to PS4. So its a bit of a gotcha if you were hoping to play in Vita as well, but you bought it on PS4 first.

Yeap... seems like PS4 content can't be imported on PS3 or Vita... so it is better to buy the content for PS3 first and then import to PS4.. weird but well I don't know.
