In speaking with attendees of the Wedbush Technology, Media and Telecommunications Conference in New York City, Electronic Arts' CEO John Riccitello estimated 890,000 copies of Mass Effect 3 were sold in the game's first 24 hours on sale… in North America alone.
“We anticipated it doing well, so we’re happy," he was quoted as saying.
He didn't cite International sales figures, as the game launched a few days later in other regions.
Interestingly, though, he did talk about the extraordinary DLC attach-rates for the game, which came in around 40%, a very high number.
“The tie ratio at the register is the highest in their history”, said Riccitiello, referring to retailer GameStop.
Mr. Riccitello also provided some context on the performance of Star Wars: The Old Republic, saying the 1.7 million subscribers cited in early February are holding firm, specifying the vast majority of signups have become recurring subscribers.
This proves that VgChartz pre-order data was too high as I expected.
