Game developer Replay Games know as a developer of social games has announced it has acquired the rights to Leisure Suit Larry . The past two installments sucked and really did damage to the IP's reputation. However Replay Games has devised a plan to bring the series back they have announced plans to remake all 7 Leisure Suit Larry games.

“Our goal is to redo all seven games and be the Telltale of the classic adventure gaming world,”said Replay studio director Paul Trowe “I want to bring all these games back that we played when we were young.” Al Lowe added "Working with Paul's team ensures that the world's favorite leisure suit-wearer remains the same guy we all learned to love a quarter-century ago. I'll oversee the entire production of these games to ensure the highest standards and some amazing new adventures for Larry."

So how is the studio going to remake the series? All the games will be remastered in HD starting with Leisure Suit Larry In The Land Of The Lounge Lizards. The game will be made available for "PC, MAC, XBLA, PSN, iOS, Android, Steam, On-Live, Gaikai, and all major affiliate portals." Also unlike the last two attempts to bring Leisure Suit Larry back Replay Games has actually hired the properties creator and original writer Al Lowe. Al will over see the production and release of all of the future Larry titles to ensure they meet the quality standards expected from fans.

It wasn't easy for Replay Games to get the IP "I've been working to acquire the original Sierra properties for over 10 years. I can’t even begin to explain how thrilled I am to announce we’re letting Larry breathe the fresh air of freedom once more and releasing him from the clutches of corporate America."

So after 10+ years of trying to acquire the franchise Replay Games will finally be remastering them with a release date in 2012. With Al Lowe none the less and in full HD. The developer has re-assured everyone that they will also start work on new Leisure Suit Larry titles to complement the remakes. Are you psyched can you wait for a true return of everyone's favorite delinquent?

Is this going to be successful? Is it a good idea? Do you think they will actually be able to complete all 7 titles and make new ones or are they shooting too high?
